Unlimited call capacity in a Hosted PBX System
« Posted: October 07, 2007, 08:03:19 AM »

Hosted PBX systems usually preferred by small and medium industries owing to the low cost and world-class features. These systems provide the same kind of functionalities that the expensive premise based PBX systems, costing millions of dollars, provide. The expensive systems are affordable only to big companies, usually the Fortune 500 companies. Hosted PBX system features almost all the functionalities of a premise based PBX, and sometimes additional features also. One of the highlighted features of hosted PBX system is its 'unlimited' call capacity.

The call capacity of a hosted PBX system depends on the network bandwidth. The services of a hosted PBX system are provided through a dedicated, secure, and private T1 broadband connection. Given the high bandwidth of a T1 connection, the number of calls that can be managed simultaneously is very large. Service providers usually provide a single number to a company for its client/customer service. The calls to a particular employee or department are managed via extension numbers. The routing of the numbers is managed by an auto attendant.

Even though the call capacity of a hosted PBX is very high, which is often advertised as unlimited, there is always a possibility of the recipient being unavailable. In such condition, the calls are diverted to the recipient's voice mailbox. This assures that a caller never gets the 'line busy' message. Similarly, the system assures that the recipient never misses an important call or message.
