Main duties and responsibilities:
Plan, install, configure, test and maintain OS software
Analyze OS patches and apply as needed or requested by the customer
Create, configure, maintain and modify user accounts, passwords and 'home directories'
Install, configure and test new system software products, new data base software and new Middleware
Design and configure database storage at the OS level
Maintain database backup and recovery procedures
Maintain and monitor database systems and alert for database events.
Problem analysis and resolution for OS, software, tools, network configuration (on the server) and server performance
Respond to security alerts and alarms, and report security breaches to the customer.
Monitor and troubleshoot backups, restart backups and perform file restores
Create, define and manage print services and queues.
Perform incidental data migration services.
Provide corrective action to resolve critical system performance and capacity problems and provide recommendations to prevent possible future incidents
Candidates must possess any or all of following skills:
Sun Solaris administration skills
HP UX administration skills
Linux System administration skills.
AIX administration skills, Ontap, DC-OSx, and VOS.
Support skills with enterprise-wide backup solutions
Other skill requirements:
Flexibility and willingness to work at SAIC or customer sites throughout India/USA/UK
Very Good English Communication Skill
3-4 Years of experience in UNIX system administration role.
Exposure to Incident Management tools. (Remedy, Red Box etc)
A Degree is required with Relevant Experience.
