The D. E. Shaw Group is seeking Members and Senior Members (Information Technology) for Schrdinger products. Schrdinger, Inc. is a part of the D. E. Shaw group of companies, and a technology leader in computational chemistry for drug and materials discovery. The person we hire will create, enhance, and maintain the shared library infrastructure (low level libraries which contain the business logic and act as an interface between various products) of Schrdinger. This individual will also support various scientific data exchange formats, and enhance the build infrastructure to simplify and support building of various Schrdinger products on multiple platforms like Linux, AIX, IRIX, and Windows.

The ideal candidate will have:
A B.S. or an M.S. in computer science, or equivalent background with very good knowledge of data structures, algorithm design and implementation.
A minimum of 3 years of C/C++ programming experience on UNIX.
Exposure to debugging/profiling applications.
Strong understanding of UNIX programming tools (make, awk, sed, etc.)
Exposure to shell/Perl scripting.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Exposure to cross-platform development (preferably between Linux & Windows), knowledge of Fortran, and a background in chemistry, will be considered added advantages.
