Tengi User Wins First £10,000 Cash Prize for Chatting to Friends

Bradford local wins £10,000 cash just for messaging on his phone
Tengi to give away £10,000 every two weeks, meaning 26 chances to win every year
Free chat app Tengi rewards users by sharing 50% of revenues

Sheffield, 7 March 2016 – Bradford local Anwar Hussain is the winner of UK-based chat app Tengi’s first super prize draw. On Friday 26 February, Anwar won £10,000 cash for doing nothing more than using new app Tengi to chat with his friends and family.

And starting on 18th March the chat app that gives back will be giving away £10,000 in cash to its users with a super prize draw every two weeks.

“Not surprisingly a £10,000 prize has really motivated our users," said Neil Laycock, Tengi’s CEO. “We’ve seen the Tengi user base soar in the last few weeks since our national launch and users are actively encouraging friends to download the app as it not only helps increase their chances of winning but also helps grow the cash prize pot.”

“And of course we’re delighted for our first £10,000 prize winner Anwar. We hope he and his family enjoy their winnings,” continued Laycock.

Tengi’s first super prize draw winner, Anwar Hussain, aged 40, from Bradford, said of his win: “I just couldn’t believe it when Neil rang me! I had to sit all my family down and tell them I had won and they couldn’t believe it either!

“Tengi is brilliant. I would have been sending messages anyway but with Tengi you get the added a chance to win every week… and I did! It's even free to download. Everyone should be using it!”

With his winnings, Anwar plans to take the family on holiday to Dubai and make a donation to his favourite charity Greenpeace. His two sons Ali and Asif are also not short of ideas on what their father should spend the money on.

Tengi is able to offer a regular £10k prize draw as it shares 50% of all of its advertising revenue with its users. It has already given away nearly £150,000 to its user base of more than 25,000 active users since its beta launch in August 2015 and will now give away another £10k every two weeks.

Even if you don’t win the £10k prize, over 800 additional prizes of £25 or £5 can be won with every fortnightly draw.

“In a climate where many apps look to profit from their users, the idea of an app sharing the revenues it generates is proving to be hugely popular,” continued Laycock.

Tengi is available for both iOS and Android and was launched nationally in February after a successful beta trial in 2015 in the Yorkshire region. Tengi has been built and developed in Sheffield, which has a thriving technology community.

The app features text and multimedia sharing (including images, video and audio), easy access to contacts and group chat with up to 100 friends at once.

The final £1,000 draw took place on 4th March. There will be no draw on 11th March and the fortnightly £10,000 super draw will commence 18th March and take place every fortnight thereafter.
