Carrier and Enterprise Networking Device, Built on Aricent Software Frameworks, Breaks down Network Complexity while Delivering Carrier-Grade Security

Barcelona/Mobile World Congress - February 23, 2016 – Today Ulterius Technologies launched the Flat Data Network-640 device incorporating Aricent software stacks. The device, known as FDN-640 for short, is a unified routing, switching and WiFi appliance featuring carrier-grade security. At Mobile World Congress, Ulterius Technologies will show the platform's multi-protocol credentials with a demonstration of secure Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) transmission.

The device has been engineered to break down the complexity of both carrier and enterprise networks while increasing data security. FDN-640 enforces "zerotrust" networking due to firewall policies residing on every device installed on a network. It also reduces the number of routers and switches required to transmit data and simplifies network administration through a single software interface.

FDN-640 is Ulterius Technologies' first and flagship device launch since the company's emergence from stealth mode in 2016. The company was founded by veteran telecommunications engineers in 2011, with the vision of solving the problem of inherently insecure and inefficient data transmission.

The platform was built on the framework of Aricent's integrated carrier and enterprise software stacks. Aricent is a global design and product engineering services company, whose software stacks lie at the heart of many of the world's leading networks and devices.

Alexandros Cavgalar, Co-Founder and CTO of Ulterius Technologies said: “Before the launch of FDN-640, carrier-grade Flat Data Networking was more of a dream than a reality. Now with FDN-640, carriers and enterprises can make decreased network complexity, better bandwidth usage and reduced power usage a reality. Delivered at scale, it promises easier network management and increased performance with a vastly lowered operational cost.”

Pratyush Dasgupta, Vice President Engineering at Aricent said: “The team at Ulterius Technologies, helped by Aricent’s software stacks, have engineered a solution to a problem that many assumed could not be solved. They have broken the problems of network inefficiency and insecurity down to their core and re-built a better answer. In doing so, Ulterius has shown what can be achieved with new thinking and a determination to break the status quo.”
