Plustek launches new Optic Film 135 scanner making it even faster & easier to scan, edit and share 35 mm film and negatives

London February 3, 2016 – Plustek, the Taiwanese photo and document scanner manufacturer, today launches the Optic Film 135, a high performance and innovative 35 mm film and negative scanner tailor-made for people who want to easily preserve their valuable film treasures.

Capitalising on over 20 years of product development expertise, the compact new scanner extends Plustek’s award-winning Optic Film series and introduces features with the new model to make it faster, simpler, more convenient and fun to digitise films and negatives.

Packed with new ways to make scanning easy
Plustek’s Optic Film 135 offers new functionality to make the whole process of film and negative scanning as straightforward as possible:

New motorised film holder to enable easy batch scanning. The Optic Film 135 comes with a new holder which takes up four 35mm slides or six film negatives to speed up processing. Load and go – it’s that simple.
One touch scanning simplifies everything. The Optic Film 135 has been designed with simple ease of use in mind. Three single touch buttons are available for convenient film scanning. Press and scan. There’s nothing to it.
Latest QuickScan Plus software makes image editing child’s play with no preview required. The scanner is bundled with Plustek’s latest QuickScan Plus software which converts positive and negative film into popular digital file formats such as TIFF, JPEG and BMP. The intuitive user interface simplifies scanning and includes special image editing features to enhance scanning results. This includes five creative picture effects and a series of photo adjusting tools to enable images to be cropped, sharpened, rotated and so on.
The new version of the software also means no preview scan is required saving up to 40% time spent scanning. Once scanning is complete, images are quickly presented in QuickScan Plus for processing, editing and saving.

Support for panoramic film scanning. Plustek is now offering the ability to scan panoramic film negatives – up to 120mm across - with the purchase of an additional film holder accessory.
The Optic Film 135 delivers outstanding resolution to output vivid and sharp images. Offering true 3,600 dpi optical resolution, the scanner can output images to 17.3 MB to make producing prints up 12 x 17 inches a breeze.

With no warm up time required, the scanner takes approximately 40 seconds to scan to its maximum area[1] in colour at 600 dpi, and 205 seconds at the higher 3,600 dpi resolution.

Once film or negatives are scanned, the QuickPlus Software allows easy sharing to FaceBook, Flickr, Picasa, Twitter and other applications.

Shooping Lin, Plustek’s UK sales director, says, “Dedicated film scanners deliver a much higher photographic dynamic range compared to using a flatbed or other capture devices. This means you get really accurate and consistent colours and sharp resolution which is paramount when converting slides or negatives to digital. With the introduction of the Optic Film 135, we’re bringing to market a feature-rich, easy to use solution at a compelling price to enable people to clear out boxes of old film so they can see them on all their electronic devices.”

Pricing and availability
Plustek’s Optic Film 135 film scanner supports both Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS X operating systems. It is available today from CameraWorld and Speed Graphic and other authorised photographic retailers at a recommended retail price of £245.00 plus VAT. A two year warranty is offered as standard.
