Are You Ready for the 5G Takeover?

5G Forum USA to bring the ecosystem together to explore the requirements needed for 5G in 2020

Palo Alto, Santa Clara, CA – 12 March 2015 – In just five years time the next evolution in wireless technology is set to launch. Fifth generation technology (5G) will take the world by storm, with expected speeds of up to 66 times faster than what 4G currently provides – but is the world ready? With this question in mind, 5G Forum USA (14-15 April) will examine this future technology and the requirements it will need for MNOs (Mobile Network Operators) to make the transition.

With Ericsson forecasting 50 billion connected devices by 2020, coupled with the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics in the same year, the demand for 5G is already tremendous. Faster mobile data services, shorter latency times and the fact that the Internet of Things is reliant on 5G, are all key factors driving the need for the new technology, applications and services, while also presenting exciting business models for operators to explore.

However the concern is that the requirements for 5G will not be defined by 2020. 5G Forum USA will act as a platform for the whole 5G ecosystem to meet, encouraging open collaboration between different industry sectors to ensure the availability of the technology in 2020 and the many years after.

The conference program includes C-level speakers from leading enterprises including Google, Ford Motors, Toyota and Orange Healthcare and also senior representatives from the wireless industry’s leading carriers such as Telstra, T-Mobile USA, SK Telecom, China Mobile, Etisalat and many more.

Topics to be discussed and focussed on as part of the busy two-day agenda include defining 5G, MNOs’ requirements and strategies for 5G, how 5G can help connect enterprises and the technology and spectrum challenges for 5G, which will evaluate how the new technology can overcome the main problem of utilising higher frequency spectrum since most of the world’s lower frequency spectrum is no longer available. Operator case studies will also be presented, including a look at the role of NFV in next-generation networks.

5G Forum USA is endorsed by 4G Americas, 5GPPP, 3GPP, NGNM, 5G Forum Korea & 5G World Alliance, and the conference will include executive speed networking sessions, providing an ideal opportunity to identify and create new business opportunities early on while 5G is still heating up.

5G Forum USA will take place at the Crown Plaza, Palo Alto, on 14-15 April 2015. To plan your visit, to view the full event programme and speaker list, or to register for the event, please go to http://5gforumusa.com/. Alternatively, keep up to date with the event on Twitter using #5GforumUSA.
