Openwave Mobility Wins Seven Customers in Seven Months
« Posted: September 10, 2014, 03:09:51 PM »

Operators in North America, Europe and APAC turn to Openwave Mobility to improve peak RAN capacity by over 20%

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – September 10, 2014 – Openwave Mobility, a software innovator enabling operators to manage and monetize mobile data, today announced that a recent deployment in the public cloud for a prominent North American service provider continues to demonstrate significant customer momentum. In total there has been seven new global customer wins in as many months. Openwave Mobility has also been selected as a preferred global vendor for a Europe-based Tier 1 telecom operator earlier in the summer.

DynaMO, the industry’s most comprehensive mobile video, audio and web optimization solution, was implemented on a North American operator’s network. This public cloud deployment was achieved with zero routing changes or disruption, and at a nominal CAPEX cost. The congestion-aware media optimization solution, DynaMO, has also been selected by a global Tier 1 operator and is already live on its European and North African networks.

Significantly, Openwave Mobility’s mobile data solutions are also being deployed in partnership with a leading global ICT solutions provider in three networks in the APAC region.

Openwave Mobility’s capability to reduce mobile video traffic by up to 70 percent including MP4 videos (an industry first) also contributed to a win with a Canadian communications service provider. This continued momentum in recent months has placed the company globally as one of the top three players by market share according to recent analyst reports in the video optimization segment.

“The operator need for advanced traffic optimization solutions is primarily driven by the expansion of 3G and 4G networks, increased demand for Quality of Experience, and the need to reduce RAN congestion”, says Indranil Chatterjee, Vice-President Product Management, Strategy and Marketing at Openwave Mobility. “We are delighted that DynaMO with its best in-class congestion triggered video optimization has reduced RAN congestion by 22 percent as measured by a third-party element on one operator’s RAN”.

In addition to the wins in the video optimization market, Openwave Mobility also made strides in its Subscriber Data Management (SDM) business by securing two Tier 2 North American operators to its customer portfolio. Data pertaining to subscriber profiles, billing, and device details is often fragmented and split across logical and physical architectures, and different locations for mobile operators. SDM seeks to provide centralized management of all subscriber data. It allows operators to reduce service innovation cycles by exploiting common subscriber data, thus reducing operating costs.
