m2fx partners with MEFC to target Middle Eastern market

Supplies full product range to carriers, bringing down installation costs and increasing reliability

London, 8 October 2013 – m2fx, the inventors and producers of the world-leading range of patented Miniflex™ fibre cables today announced a new partnership with Middle East Fiber Cable Manufacturing Co. (MEFC), to support its growth in the Middle East.

m2fx logo MEFC will provide customers in the region with m2fx’s full product range, including its innovative Miniflex fibre cables. Developed to resist the toughest conditions, and withstand direct sun and long term temperatures of 80 degrees centigrade, the cables are proven to reduce installation costs and increase reliability.

MEFC has already supplied over 500 FTTP installations of Miniflex cable for use in major projects across the region. These include external and internal deployments by installer Detasad for carrier Mobily in Saudi Arabia.

MEFC is a Saudi-Japanese partnership located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It has established itself as the largest fiber cable manufacturer in the region with a production capacity of more than 30000KM of fiber cables. MEFC is a leader in the manufacture of fibre optic cables and solution provider for the telecommunications and industrial sectors in the MENA markets. With an estimated 40% of the Saudi local market share and the GCC countries, MEFC is well positioned to be the supplier of choice for most local telecom and industrial projects. MEFC has entered the FTTH market by supplying micro cables, pre-connected cables, fibre optics accessories, air blown cables and offering end to end solutions. It is an approved vendor of fibre cables for Saudi Aramco, SEC, SWCC, all regional telecom operators (STC, Mobily, ITC and Bayanat), most OSP/Integrators, Kuwait Petroleum Co., Zain of Kuwait, Qatar Oil & Gas Companies, Q-Tel of Qatar, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) and many others.

“Quality is at the heart of everything we do and as we expand we are looking for partners that deliver innovative products that meet our customers’ demanding needs,” said Eng. Saeed Alghamdi, General Manager, Middle East Fiber Cable Manufacturing Company. “m2fx has designed products that meet the specific requirements of our region, making it the natural choice for our customers as they look to increase fibre deployments across the Middle East. With the market growing fast, we see Miniflex becoming a key part of our range.”

Available with m2fx’s patented QuikPush pushable technology, the Miniflex range combines lightness, flexibility and robustness. QuikPush speeds up installations by enabling crews to simply push or pull fibre to their destination, without the need to use expensive blowing machines. The strength of Miniflex’s pre-tested products means they can be nailed directly to external and internal walls, without the need for additional ducting.

Reduced installation times and greater reliability translate into increased productivity and lower costs. Crews can complete 60% more installations per day without impacting quality. By deskilling operations cheaper labour can be used, bringing down costs by up to 50% in the Middle East.

“At m2fx we’re dedicated to delivering innovative products that meet the needs of our global client base,” said Tom Carpenter, CEO, m2fx Limited. “By partnering with MEFC we can provide our cost-effective, reliable solution to the fast-growing Middle Eastern market. MEFC has built a strong reputation in the sector and working together we can help operators simplify installations, bring down deployment times and reduce costs around Fibre to the Premises networks. We look forward to expanding our market share across the Middle East through this partnership.”
