Real time information tool provides true visibility into application status
LONDON: 12 July 2011 –
Camwood Limited, the UK-based specialist in application logistics, today announced the launch of Application Lifecycle Manager™, a cloud based service enabling access to real time information on the status of a single application, groups of applications or an entire portfolio. Designed for the requirements of project and application teams, Application Lifecycle Manager tracks, monitors and manages the status of applications, be it part of a normal lifecycle or part of a key migration project, where business continuity is paramount.
Camwood’s Application Lifecycle Manager provides a definitive source of the truth by aggregating information on what applications are used, where they are, what they are doing, their cost to the business and importantly, how they are being used. By understanding how the applications are being used, the solution is able to highlight application interdependencies that arise through certain business processes; information that is invaluable when considering a migration project. Application Lifecycle Manager is also proving a key component from a software optimisation perspective, with proven process savings of many thousands of pounds, as well as up-to 20% of your desktop licensing cost.
Bhadresh Sachania, head of PMO for Tube Lines commented: “Camwood ALM is an immensely powerful tool that provides immediate and accurate visibility on the status of all our applications, enabling us to understand how they are being used and by whom. It also highlights the application interdependencies that exist, enabling us to plan our migrations effectively.”
Camwood CEO, Frank Foxall, said: “Applications are the lifeblood of any business and yet very few people have any idea as to the number of applications they are using within their business. People are surprised to hear that an organisation of 50,000 users will typically have around 5,000 applications.” He continued: “To help them control their application estate, Application Lifecycle Manager is designed to manage the lifecycle of an application from cradle to grave. Plus, its versatility means that it can be used to control large volumes of applications during a migration, or simply to maintain the day-to-day run rate of application change.”
Camwood’s Application Lifecycle Manager is not designed to ‘record’ the process applied to an application, it is implemented and customised per client to ‘be’ the underlying process. This fundamental strength ensures that only relevant, must-have detail is captured in real-time and that it has true business value. Additionally, the new product records details of how to install and configure each application; key collateral for future projects.
Currently in use at Tube lines, BAE Systems, Babcock and Santander and others, Camwood plans to continue to add functionality to its Application Lifecycle Manager, with future releases to include an interface into license management and sustainability data.
