Hotel services and amenities will be easily accessible to guests using Avaya’s sophisticated touch-screen device

Guildford, UK – Guests staying at the Park Hotel Weggis, a luxury 5 star superior hotel on the shores of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland, will be among the first in the world to experience the Avaya Guest Media Hub, an in-room communication device specifically built for the hospitality industry.  Much more than a phone, the Guest Media Hub provides a unique experience for guests of Park Hotel Weggis by providing an intuitive way of interacting with the hotel, and offering easy access to key services and personalised content.

The Guest Media Hub has a sophisticated look and feel, including a colourful touch screen interface providing quick navigation and dynamic visuals. It enables guests to not only make phone calls, set alarms, get stock quotes and check the weather – but also discover many hotel-related amenities. Park Hotel Weggis guests can use the Guest Media Hub to browse menus and make reservations for the hotel’s highly–rated restaurants, view the hotel’s extensive 25,000 bottle wine list, and order room service – all from the comfort of their room. Information on hotel amenities including the spa, pool, golf course and local area attractions can be viewed on the Guest Media Hub in English, German, French, and Italian. 

The Guest Media Hub can also be personalised to meet specific guest needs. For instance, hotels can utilise historical data from a guest’s prior visits to provide them with information of interest to them. This could include highlighting scheduled events, attractions or food and wine choices that match a guest’s personal preferences.

“In choosing the Avaya Guest Media Hub for our hotel, we are looking to achieve even higher levels of guest satisfaction by making our services more accessible to customers, and aligning our offerings to fit each guest’s unique profile,” said Peter Kämpfer, general manager of the Park Hotel Weggis. “This enables us to enhance service through real-time information, while also introducing guests to some very entertaining applications.”

Avaya Professional Services worked closely with the management of the Park Hotel Weggis to develop unique applications specifically for the property and location.  One such application is a live webcam feed of the natural landscape and Lake Lucerne, while another unique application displays different Swiss Fairy Tales for guests to enjoy before they retire for the day. 

In addition to its unique capabilities, the high-tech look and feel of the Guest Media Hub will complement Park Hotel Weggis’ focus on offering the latest technologies in all of its hotel rooms.  Added Kämpfer: “The Avaya Guest Media Hub suits our vision of being a trendsetter and offering a luxurious lifestyle to our guests.”

“Hotels such as the Park Hotel Weggis that want to provide differentiated service and a best-in-class guest experience are turning to Avaya Hospitality solutions and Avaya Professional Services to create and deploy applications ranging from in-room guest interaction to back of house staff efficiencies,” said Daryl Page, managing director, Global Hospitality, Avaya. 

“We have also found many hoteliers can reduce costs while furthering their green initiatives by moving the guest compendium, directory and other paper-based information to the Guest Media Hub. These hoteliers can anticipate savings of $1.29 USD per available room night, which could result in savings of almost $100,000 per annum for a 300 room hotel(1)," added Page.
