Covergence Announces Interoperability with DIGITALK
« Posted: February 04, 2008, 07:49:09 PM »

MAYNARD, Mass., February 4, 2008 – Covergence®, the leading provider of session border control solutions for the access edge, today announced completion of interoperability testing with UK-based DIGITALK, an independent developer of multiservice voice switching platforms for telecommunications service providers worldwide.  The award-winning Covergence Session Manager now works with DIGITALK’S Media Application Server, a software-based Multiservice Platform (MSP) that enables service providers to manage delivery and billing of all network services.

In today’s technology environment, service providers need next generation networking equipment that offers a clear and cost-effective transition path between traditional voice services and IP-based (Internet Protocol) networks.  Providers also need to ready their networks now for supporting the real-time services – video, voice, presence, IM and others – that users demand. Interoperability with the Covergence Session Manager presents DIGITALK customers with a proven solution for delivering these services securely and immediately.

“Telecommunications is moving beyond voice to include multi-media services, and as a top provider of pre-paid platforms in Europe, DIGITALK needs to guarantee that its Application Server operates with a proven solution for delivering these services,” said Bob O’Neil, president and CEO, Covergence.  “Covergence Session Manager works with DIGITALK’s offerings to make regulatory compliance and support for Next Generation Network (NGN) services a reality.”

“Interoperability with top vendors is important for DIGITALK because our customers need hardware that meets regulatory compliance and functions seamlessly with our own Application Server,” said Mark Ashdown, sales and marketing director, DIGITALK.  “Covergence Session Manager meets our customers’ requirements and ensures that our customers can build the Next Generation Network services they demand without hassle or high-cost equipment.”

Covergence Session Manager was developed to meet a full range of needs; from the small to medium-sized business (SMB) market all the way up to the world’s largest service provider. The solution is available from Covergence immediately and can be purchased by contacting [email protected] or by calling 978.823.5200.
