Cornwall, 12 December 2007: Free classifieds website, itsmymarket.com, has announced its new environmental policy.
As part of this ‘green policy’, itsmymarket.com has initiated a proactive carbon offsetting campaign to offset the emissions produced by the computers used by the site’s users and staff. The company has planted six trees, each of which will offset 730 kg of carbon during its lifetime. The trees have been planted in Cornwall, where itsmymarket.com’s headquarters are located. Itsmymarket.com is a now a ‘green’ shopping option. With 4.38 tonnes of CO2 already offset, the website is committed to continue this programme indefinitely.
Itsmymarket.com’s environmental policy promotes the reduction of waste by recycling. According to the LGA, the UK discards more waste in landfill sites than any other country - currently the figure stands at over 22 million tonnes of waste. Buying and selling second hand goods is an accountable alternative to waste disposal.
Itsmymarket.com is a local classified advertising site, so users are also helping to reduce the environmental impact of transporting goods as they are buying from and selling to other users in their local community.
