One of the UK’s largest law firms is latest organisation to migrate from Adobe’s to Nuance’s for PDF desktop solutions
LONDON, UK., 07 December, 2007 – PDF Converter Professional from Nuance Communications (NASDAQ: NUAN), a leading provider of speech and imaging solutions, continues to demonstrate its appeal as the most popular alternative to Adobe® Acrobat® following its deployment at Bevan Brittan, one of the UK’s largest law firms. Chosen to replace Adobe Acrobat Standard and Reader, PDF Converter Professional delivers superior levels of document creation and conversion efficiency to the firm. The procurement of PDF Converter Professional by Bevan Brittan was managed by Inqology, a Nuance reseller partner.
With Bevan Brittan’s staff under pressure to convert increasing numbers of Microsoft Word documents into PDF, and to make minor amendments to existing PDF documents, Bevan Brittan decided that in order to optimize the process for converting documents, it had to equip its commercial development team with cost-effective PDF desktop software that empowered them to create PDFs from other documents, or to make minor changes, themselves. When assessing alternatives to their PDF desktop solution, Bevan Brittan’s criteria were that the replacement software should integrate easily with the company’s existing Document Management System and office applications. It also had to be accurate, easy to use, reliable and offer competitive licensing options.
“After assessing several PDF software products, PDF Converter Professional was the only product Bevan Brittan found that met all of our requirements,” said Tara Walsh, Bevan Brittan’s Marketing Manager. “Furthermore, Nuance was the only supplier that provided excellent communication offering advice and guidance regarding our product solution.”
Following the deployment, Bevan Brittan has discovered that it can now seamlessly merge files from multiple sources including its Document Management System into one PDF, ensuring that the PDF files look exactly like the original documentation, preserving the source file information whether it is text, images, full-colour graphics, or photos, regardless of the application used to create them.
“Bevan Brittan is the latest example of a company recognising that PDF Converter delivers an unbeatable price-performance proposition,” said Robert Weideman, senior vice president of EMEA marketing for Nuance. “By delivering the price, performance and features needed to put PDF on every business desktop, Nuance is delivering ‘Better PDF for Business’ to organizations around the world.”
Earlier this year, Nuance announced that its “Better PDF for Business”™ solutions – PDF Create!, PDF Converter, PDF Converter Professional and PDF Edit – have been deployed to more than 1 million desktops, and are by far the best-selling PDF alternatives to Adobe Acrobat desktop software worldwide. The 1 million seat milestone is especially significant given that Nuance first introduced its PDF product family just over three years ago.
