World’s First: Gemalto and Lexar Launch Microsoft VistaTM-Compliant Security Device for Digital Identification and Data Storage
Smart Enterprise Guardian incorporates smart card security and advanced Flash storage encryption technology to strengthen trusted business mobility
Cartes tradeshow, Villepinte, France, November 13, 2007- Gemalto (Euronext NL0000400653 GTO), world leader in digital security, and Lexar Media, Inc., a subsidiary of Micron Technology, Inc. (NYSE: MU), a leader in advanced digital media and accessories, today introduced the Smart Enterprise Guardian (SEG), a unique USB (Universal Serial Bus) device that natively incorporates industry standards for protecting digital identities and sensitive documents. The SEG combines Gemalto’s .NET-based solution and Lexar’s hardware-based memory encryption technology to provide unrivaled secure mobility for SMBs and Enterprises. Gemalto is demonstrating the SEG at CARTES this week.
The SEG features an intuitive user interface, requires no software set-up and delivers the highest levels of security and convenience. Users can easily access their enterprise Intranet, transfer sensitive files and exchange confidential e-mails from any location and from any PC. Data encryption is transparent for employees, so users with minimal PC and security knowledge can make the most of it immediately. The SEG is highly interoperable with existing IT infrastructures, simplifying IT management and reducing total cost of ownership for enterprises.
“The ecosystem surrounding authentication and authorization for Personal Portable Security Device (PPSD)* has tremendous potential for innovation and adoption,” said Chris Christiansen, Program Vice President for IDC's Security Products and Services group. “By adding secure portable data storage to PPSD, the SEG increases security for individuals’ identity and their personal information while on the move.”
”The Smart Enterprise Guardian represents a new category of multi-purpose smart USB devices which ensure trusted business mobility,” added Cédric Collomb, senior vice-president, identity and access management at Gemalto. “The synergies between Gemalto and Lexar will allow employees to work from anywhere in a Windows environment, enjoying both security and freedom.”
“We understand the Enterprise market’s need for secure mobility, which is why we are excited about our partnership with the leader in digital security,” added Farshid Tabrizi, general manager of USB products at Lexar Media. “By combining Lexar’s secure Flash memory and Gemalto’s .NET Smartcard Technology the Smart Enterprise Guardian provides a unique solution for SMBs and Enterprises by insuring data integrity and security on the device in addition to digital identification capabilities supported natively in Windows Vista.”
