Science Fiction Plots Using Future Brain Implant Technologies
« Posted: October 24, 2007, 11:46:31 AM »

Currently we have RFID subdermal implants which can be used with GPS to track an individual, pet or allow a patron of a bar or nightclub access without waiting in line. Soon these systems will be used in the Battlespace to keep track of the “blue force” or good guys. There is also a group in Washington DC, which is an electronic privacy group, which decries the advances of such technologies. Thus this appears to be the excellent makings of a really good plot with political intrigue, mind control and police mystery all wrapped up in one. We will certainly see such genres in the near future from the top science fiction writers in the World.

Such plots and future technologies also lend themselves well towards really good Xbox video games, because you have “buy in” with the gammer, who battles for what they believe in. And the possible scenarios are good too, as it is impossible to get away, yet the individual can try as the “good guys” or “bad guys” come after the individual, who has the inner will, strength and cunning to evade, defeat and win, using the joy stick and quick reflexes, and everyone wins. You have just set up a scenario for a perfect game, movie or SciFi.

Such a chip in the brain could also cause one to cause a crime if lots of frequency was introduced to the brain. Then the authorities could catch the person who was set off by the system. Thus if you will recall Logan’s Run and other Science Fiction hits you can see how well such technologies can help you set up a Plot.

We all know whether the story takes place in the present or the future, that if it is controlled by humans then it will become corrupt and if it is controlled by AI programs then it is safe until the programmer becomes Machiavellian. So you have a lot of latitude in your Novel to do all sorts of things with this. It should be a most interesting Novel and fun project if you decide to use it in your next Sci Fi writing. Think on this in 2006.
