Prysmian to reconfirm its commitment to technological innovation in HV and Submarine cable systems at CIGRE 2016

Latest HVDC cable technologies from the Group up to 700 kV on display

Milan, 3 August, 2016 - Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, will showcase its comprehensive range of products and technologies, specifically dedicated to High Voltage underground and submarine power transmission, at the 2016 Biannual Session of CIGRE (the International Council on Large Electrical Systems, one of the key worldwide bodies operating in the sector) that will take place in Paris from August 22 to 26 (Palais de Congrès de Porte Maillot, stand 250, hall 2).

Prysmian boasts a long-standing tradition of presence of highly qualified and distinguished experts in Study Committees (SC) and Working Groups (WG), and active participation in the Council through technical papers. During the Technical Session, CIGRE will also announce the new chairmanship of SC B1 “Insulated Cables”, one of the main authorities in terms of recommendations and standards in the worldwide EHV cable industry with Marco Marelli, System Engineering Director at Prysmian Powerlink, appointed to this position for the next term.

Outstanding subjects presented by the Group for the 2016 edition will touch important topics including large HVDC projects completed and under execution, advanced EHV AC solutions applied to submarine interconnections, increased power transmission performances for underground systems, environmental friendly and economic designs.

Prysmian experts will provide further insight on their technical papers presented in the SC sessions in dedicated Poster Sessions. Ultimate technologies and products for applications in the power transmission industry, both on-shore and offshore will be on display at the Prysmian booth in the Technical Exhibition.

CIGRE 2016 comes at a very important time for the Group in terms of technological achievements, following announcements released by the Group for the successful qualification of the most advanced technologies in the field of insulation materials for HVDC cable systems: 525 kV HPTE (PLaser), 600 kV XLPE and 700 kV MI PPL.

Prysmian experts will be on hand during CIGRE 2016 to discuss with delegates how the latest developments in their range of HVDC land and submarine cables can be utilized to suit future global applications of HVDC power transmission systems.
