Due to the high demand for its domain names Famous Four Media is establishing a presence in China
Tuesday, 26th January 2016, Gibraltar: Famous Four Media, the world’s leading domain name management company for new-style domain names, is expanding its operations into the Asian geography by opening a Wholly Foreign Owned Entity in China for the purpose of applying for Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) accreditation.
Famous Four Media is one of the few domain management companies applying for MIIT accreditation, which will allow it to engage in commercial and operation activities in China.
Oliver Smith, Senior Legal Counsel at Famous Four Media is managing the accreditation process.
“It was clear to us soon after launching our first domain registry that domain registrations from China comprised a strong proportion of the total,” said Smith. “It was a natural progression of our strategy to build a physical presence in China. The accreditation process is complicated but well-structured and, thanks to the help of advice from the Chinese government, should be completed relatively quickly.”
“China is a key component to our business strategy,” explained Geir Rasmussen, CEO of Famous Four Media. “During the dot COM era, Asia lagged behind the rest of the world in terms of domain name registration and commercial Internet exploitation. However, the introduction of the new domain endings in 2013 has provided the opportunity for China to take a leading position in the new Not COM era.”
Famous Four Media is the leading registry management company for new-style domains with nearly two million domains under management, the most of any registry management company. In addition, over 30% of the top 10 most popular new domain extensions are managed by Famous Four Media. Domain names can only be registered through an ICANN accredited registrar and four out of Famous Four Media’s top five performing registrars are based in China making it a natural location from which to build the development of its business.

Our move into China will help cement and build on these relationships enabling us to develop products and services which are fine tuned for the burgeoning Chinese market.”

www.net.cn) and Todaynic.com Inc. (todaynic.com) and confidently expects to have a fully staffed office in Beijing by March 2016.
Famous Four Media managed registries comprise 15 new gTLD extensions including .WIN, .BID, and .LOAN. Domain names can be registered through Famous Four Media’s network of ICANN accredited registrars.
