Sophia Antipolis, France October 26, 2015: ETSI has today announced that it will launch its eagerly anticipated webcast entitled ‘Boosting user experience by innovating at the mobile edge’ with speakers Nurit Sprecher from Nokia, chair of ETSI Mobile Edge Computing ISG and Mansoor Hanif from EE. The webcast will take place on 2nd November 2015 at 10:00am GMT and the recording will be available immediately afterwards.

The webcast will be a rare opportunity to hear insights by two of the world’s leading industry experts who have independently contributed to many global telecommunication projects, including managing the launch of the first 4G network in the UK which is widely considered to be the fastest ever roll out of mobile technology in the UK.

Future mobile networks will encompass various technologies for a diversity of applications. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is considered a key enabler for 5G systems but can already be implemented on current networks. It will create an environment for innovation and value creation.

The one hour webcast will include a Q&A session, and explain how businesses can benefit from Mobile Edge Computing and how MEC will offer quality of experience, innovative applications and services for mobile enterprises, subscribers and vertical segments.

It will also explore third party service scenarios and explain the ETSI Mobile Edge Computing Specification Group including its objectives, what is being standardised and what standards are expected.

Nurit Sprecher, chair of ETSI ISG MEC, is Principal Standardisation Architect at Nokia and a member of the Nokia Technology and Innovation Architecture Leadership Team. She has contributed to many projects carried out in the IETF, ITU-T, IEEE, BBF and ETSI and has participated in core discussions on the Next Generation Network with Tier-1 carriers and a number of governments.

Mansoor Hanif, Director of RAN and Programmes at EE, led the launch of the first 4G network in the UK. In his current role, he leads the team that plans designs, rolls out, optimizes and operates all radio access networks, manages the integration of the legacy Orange and T-Mobile networks and all other network programmes.
