Integra Honored for Innovation in Virtualizing Services
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - April 8, 2015 - Openwave Mobility, a software innovator enabling operators to manage and monetize mobile data, announced today that TMC, a global, integrated media company, has named Integra as a 2015 SDN Excellence Award winner presented by TMC's INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine and SDN Zone. Integra is the industry's most scalable, Layer7 SDN/NFV platform, allowing operators to manage and monetize network traffic.
The challenge that the industry faces is to realize the promise that SDN/NFV brings in elastic deployment, cost savings, dynamic service chaining and time-to-market, in a practical way. Integra takes a disruptive approach by addressing SDN at the service and application level, Layer 7, versus the more common approach of through Layer 2 and Layer 4. It provides use case and application orchestration and scalable SDN session controller capabilities, in order to realize an open vision of NFV and SDN.
Integra provides a highly scalable HTTP proxy engine coupled with a service orchestration framework that allows operators to insert contextually and dynamically different sets of value-added services (VAS) into the data path. VAS execution such as video optimization, parental control and inline notification end-user engagement can be enforced in real-time for each flow separately based on subscriber information, device characteristics, charging details, network congestion and content being accessed. The services enabled by Integra allow operators to differentiate from their competitors, maximizing potential revenues while minimizing infrastructure.
"We are thrilled to be recognized by TMC and SDN Zone for our Integra platform," said Indranil Chatterjee, VP of Products, Sales & Marketing, Openwave Mobility. "Through Integra and its plug-in Value Added Solutions, Openwave Mobility is delivering a disruptive, yet practical path to SDN/NFV. Integra goes beyond the current thinking of many players to fulfill the long-term vision of being able to actually monetize an SDN/NFV architecture."
SDN architecture has already had a profound impact on the IT and Telecom industries and, as this technology continues to grow in popularity, the SDN Excellence Award recognizes the companies that are leading the way in SDN architecture and applications. "Recognizing leaders advancing SDN technologies, TMC is proud to announce Openwave Mobility as a recipient of the 2015 SDN Excellence Award," said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. "Integra has demonstrated innovation and will help shape the face of the quickly evolving industry. It is our pleasure to honor Openwave Mobility for their inspiring work."
Winners of the SDN Excellence Award will be published in the April 2015 issue of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine.
