Speaker Line-Up Announced for OMA LWM2M Workshop
« Posted: January 12, 2015, 11:44:13 AM »

San Diego, CA - January 12, 2015 - The Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) today announced the agenda and speaker line-up for its LWM2M Workshop that will take place January 28, 2015 from 9:00 to 13:30. The event is co-hosted by the Vodafone Innovation Park with the collaboration of the Eclipse Foundation and is co-located with the OMA LWM2M TestFest being held at the Vodafone Campus in Dusseldorf, Germany January 26-29.

OMA Lightweight M2M (LWM2M) is a new open industry standard, which specifies a way to remotely manage a wide range of M2M devices and connected appliances in the emerging Internet of Things (IoT). This workshop is designed to educate both OMA members and non-members about the features of LWM2M and the tools and ecosystem enabling development of products and services based on the LWM2M standard.

Axel Schulz, Head of Vodafone Innovation Park said, "The Vodafone Innovation Park is very pleased to host this exciting event which will help companies to ensure interoperability of products based on this new standard for the Internet of Things."

Workshop topics will include an introduction to OMA LWM2M and how it fits into the world of IOT by Friedhelm Rodermund of Vodafone and an introduction to the OMA Developer Tool Kit by Joaquin Prado of OMA. Matthias Kovatsch of ETH Zurich will present a demo of the LWM2M Developer Tool Kit Client Simulator. Julien Vermillard of Sierra Wireless will present an overview of LWM2M projects on-going at the Eclipse Foundation, while Antonio Jara from the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland will show a live demo of a LWM2M implementation. Finally, Svante Alnås of Sony Mobile and Michael Koster of ARM will discuss LWM2M Management Objects and the tools used to create them. To view the complete agenda and speaker bios see openmobilealliance.org/event/oma-lwm2m-testfest-event-workshop.

"LWM2M is emerging as an important standard for IoT device management," explains Mike Milinkovich, executive director, Eclipse Foundation. "We believe the combination of an open standard, like OMA LWM2M, and the Eclipse open source implementations of LWM2M, will be a critical success factor in the industry adoption of a common device management standard for IoT."

Registration for the TestFest is open until January 16, 2015 and is available to companies with a LWM2M client or server that is ready to test.  Space is limited to the first 40 registrants. The OMA LWM2M Workshop is open to anyone interested in LWM2M activities. It will be broadcasted via a webinar. To register for the TestFest or the Workshop either in person or via the webinar follow this link for more information or visit www.openmobilealliance.org.
