IDT Highlights the Challenges Carriers Face in a Hyperconnected World
« Posted: October 13, 2014, 04:48:31 PM »

Nick Ford, President of Carrier Services at IDT Telecom will discuss the challenges and benefits for carriers within a hyperconnected world and what this could mean for the market.

London, UK – October 13 2014 – Nick Ford, President of Carrier Services at IDT Telecom, will present some key topics for those in the telecoms industry at this year’s Carriers World in London. Nick will discuss the benefits and challenges carriers face in a hyperconnected world and whether voice is still considered important in an ever changing digital world.
In Nick’s talk he suggests that we are all living in a hyper connected world - people are constantly finding new ways of talking to each other as new over the top (OTT) apps appear in the market which give customers access to global conversations more easily and at cheaper rates. Hyperconnectivity will enable users to engage in voice conversation in a much more convenient way.
Nick comments that “Although we live in this hyperconnected world, some things in the voice market will remain the same. Consumers will still want to make calls using technology that works and is reliable and cost effective, rather than what happens to be the latest whizz-bang breakthrough.”
Voice will remain one of the most important services an operator can offer in terms of revenue, customer demand and customer satisfaction – whether that traffic is measured in packets or megabytes. “IDT is one of the world’s biggest voice carriers with 30 billion international minutes per year. We learnt that the market evolves and we have to evolve with it and the emerging ecosystems”, commented Nick.
Nick has over eighteen years of experience in the telecom market and has led the growth of IDT’s wholesale business across the globe, including its expansion into new territories and new products. Carriers World in London will take place between the 14th-15th of October. Nick Ford’s presentation titled ‘Will anyone talk about the revolution? The challenges and benefits for carriers to harness in a world where everyone is connected’ will take place on the 14th of October at 10:10am.
Also speaking at the event is Filippo Percario, VP Carrier Services EMEA, IDT. Filippo will moderate a panel on ‘Carrier Voice Growth- myth or reality?’ The panel will take place on the 14th of October at 12:40pm. Filippo has over 15 years of senior management experience in the global telecommunications sector; he currently is based in Milan with responsibility for IDT’s wholesale voice division across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
