“National and international organisations favour Aqilla’s approach to cloud accounting software and services over other more widely-known (traditional and cloud) solutions” according to Hugh Scantlebury, CEO at Aqilla
With Cloud-based solutions racing up the popularity charts, vendors are jostling for position in a space which has been traditionally overcrowded, seeing this emerging end of the market as money for old rope.
Some vendors are developing quickly from scratch, hoping to gain a fast share with skinny functionality and minimal support; others have approached it with a cloud version of their traditional, on-premise product - clunky by design and still costly to implement – hoping to win the deal on the basis that it is merely Cloud-compatible.
Traditional mid-market vendors have over-developed these colossal accounting systems which are costly to feed – Cloud or no Cloud. Discussing the challenges in evaluating mid-market systems, Hugh Scantlebury says:
“Businesses often come to us because either they’ve been blown away by a system’s capabilities but discovered they’ve bought something they’ll never use – then have the cost of maintaining it - or they’ve tried to find ways of optimising all this functionality but end up having to spend even more on the implementation.”
Aqilla is positioned in the middle ground; it was designed to be a smarter, faster and more agile system with an uncomplicated user interface. Meeting the needs of mid-size businesses, the system’s price structure makes it both affordable and easily scaled.
