December 10th, 2012 - Karlsbad, Germany: Translation projects are growing in complexity. In view of the continually growing translation market, it is not easy to keep track. In the latest version of its translation memory system, Across has therefore implemented new functions for even more transparent project and resource planning and even more flexibility for translation work.
Version 5.5 of the Across Language Server hones in on the individual needs of the users. With an arsenal of innovative tools, processes can now be interlinked even more transparently. The new Across LSCM (Linguistic Supply Chain Management) module forms the basis for optimized processes across all phases of the supply chain. Efficient analysis functions enable uniform cost overviews for projects, suppliers, and customers. In this way, planning cycles can be reduced considerably.
Display Text Localization, Accurate to the Pixel
"Even demanding projects such as the localization of display texts can be rolled out easily with Across v5.5. As it is usually not appropriate to make font files available to external staff, this inevitably leads to additional workload due to the use of substitute fonts and the subsequent correction of any excess text. With Across, texts can be adapted to the respective display under consideration of the prescribed size even during the translation, accurate to the pixel. The server-based approach allows the use of corporate fonts for this purpose, without letting them leak out from the company", explains Stefan Kreckwitz, Chief Technology Officer at Across Systems GmbH. Moreover, the new version facilitates the use of standardized translation units by allowing certain text sections to be locked for editing. Across v5.5 also enables the separation of data of different subsidiaries or divisions by setting different user group rights.
The new version of the Across Language Server supports Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Microsoft SQL Server 2012, and Internet Explorer 10. All new features are also available in the LSP and the Subcontractor Edition. A free trial version is available at
