November 14th, 2012 - Rohde & SchwarzRohde & Schwarz UK has acquired HAMEG UK to further grow the offering of general purpose test equipment to its customers.
“This acquisition gives UK HAMEG customer’s access to Rohde & Schwarz’ local customer support and service centre,” said Richard Bloor, Business Development Manager of Rohde & Schwarz UK. “Customers will greatly benefit from our commitment to customer care and local sales support; our UK service centre will also assure all existing product warranties.”
“The purchase of HAMEG UK fits Rohde & Schwarz’ wider goal to grow sales of general purpose test equipment and follows our successful entry into the oscilloscope market with the launch of the RTO in 2010,” commented Frank Mackel, managing director of Rohde & Schwarz UK.
HAMEG GmbH, which manufactures T&M equipment, was bought by Rohde & Schwarz in 2005 with the aim of expanding Rohde & Schwarz’s product portfolio in the lower price segment. The HAMEG brand name was retained and the business has operated as an independent subsidiary of Rohde & Schwarz since. The distribution of HAMEG products in the UK has always been contracted to privately owned companies; this acquisition brings the products of HAMEG into the worldwide Rohde & Schwarz sales network.
