What if you could record and recall everything in your life?

This is the question that Microsoft researchers Gordon Bell and Jim Gemmell are attempting to answer.  The talented researchers recently published a book titled Total Recall: How the E-Memory Revolution Will Change Everything. In the book the pair summarise nearly a decade of effort to record digitally everything in Bell's life. This included what he saw, what he ate, felt, read and his entire life experience.  The effort comes from a project that both Bell and Gemmell worked on at Microsoft Research, MyLifeBits. The idea was to capture a lifetime's worth of articles, books, cards, CDs, letters, memos, papers, photos, pictures, presentations, home movies, videotaped lectures, and voice recordings and stored them digitally.  Read full story...
