Title: I Don't Believe in God; I Am An Agnostic
Post by: Daniel Franklin on November 02, 2007, 12:26:42 PM
If you have come here to this article today, perhaps you searched on an Internet Search Engine by typing in the words; “I Don’t Believe in God” or “I am an Agnostic” out of frustration and thus you have ended up to this page? If so, well there is nothing wrong with you at all, in fact you are probably smarter than most and wish to question a few things you have been told, which are not making sense to you at this point in your life.

There are many of people out there who do not believe in God or Santa Clause or any of those sorts of stories. Many of these people call them selves “agnostic” meaning that they do not believe in a god or gods per say, but have not ruled out that potential eventuality that their may in fact be such thing. Either way most of them have been burned out on the religious aspect of the whole thing. Tired of having to believe everything, which is being taught to them from books, which they wonder of their authenticity. Einstein instructed us to question authority and so you have. And good for you as this will now help you with your issues and the reason you typed; I do not believe in God or I am agnostic into an Internet Search Engine, which we both know is not a God at all, rather a collection of the human endeavor in a written electronic form.

Now then the life and story of Jesus sounds cool and there are lots of interesting. But you seem to need more. So let me give you a little assignment to help you along and if you will do this for yourself it may help you think and discover some of these things you seek. First go out and buy the Iliad and Odyssey and some of the Greek Mythology on cassette tape, DVD or get some of the iPod Caste versions.

Next go out and buy the cassette version of “The Holy Bible; Told as a Story” and you will see that they are essentially the same, except one set of stories has multiple gods and the other one god. Then perhaps you will see the problems with passed down tales of religious works in all cultures. But why did societies and civilizations go from many cool gods to only one dictator like god? Apparently they had to simplify it so all the humans could understand this. Arthur C. Clarke discussed this in his novels.

After listening to all those tapes, then listen to the unabridged King James Version read out loud on cassette. Then listen to all the 12th thru 17th century music. Then listen to all the chanting of other religions, read their literature. And understand that humans can be lead to believe just about anything. After you do that you may find yourself more devoted than ever or you may choose moving into the Atheist Camp and not the borderline of the Agnostic viewpoint. Think on this in 2006.
