Microsoft formally withdraws remaining EU appeals

Microsoft Corp said on Wednesday it had formally withdrawn two remaining appeals before the European Union's Court of First Instance against European Commission antitrust decisions.
On Monday, the company had dropped appeals against a separate Court of First Instance decision. That decision, announced in December, backed the Commission's 2004 antitrust ruling against the software company.
"Microsoft formally discontinued its appeal" seeking to annul a 280.5 million euro ($399 million) fine imposed by the Commission for non-compliance with a remedy, it said on Wednesday.
That remedy, part of the 2004 decision, had required the company to provide some software information to rivals.
Microsoft also on Wednesday dropped an appeal against a Commission decision that the company said required it to license trade secrets on an open source basis. That, too, grew out of the 2004 ruling.
