Title: 8% of US Wireless Customers Have Pulled the Plug on Landlines
Post by: Daniel Franklin on October 07, 2007, 02:54:28 PM

As the cost of wireless calls drop closer to that of using a landline telephone, more and more North American customers are beginning to "cut the cord," and entirely replace their fixed-line services.

In December 2005, about 8% of US wireless subscribers had cancelled their landline phone subscriptions, which is a sizable jump over just 5% at the end of 2004.

And according to Forrester Research, it isn't just younger users that are switching exclusively to cell phones. The average age of cord-cutters has increased noticeably in the past year, with most in the 35 to 44 age bracket.
