Although technology is constantly improving, laws and legislation do not change as rapidly. It has become standard for college, high school and even middle school - students to own a cell phone, but rules in many schools refuse to take such a fact into account when banning some technology. Recently, a random police raid using X-rays produced almost 500 items of contraband at a Manhattan middle school, according to The New York Times. Almost all items were cell phones and the school has more than 900 students. Last year, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg began to enforce an almost 20-year-old law banning electronics in school.
