Gartner vice president Steve Prentice pointed out that with Second Life, the application not only is huge, but also is changing on almost a weekly basis. Downloading 50 MB each week of Second Life executable code and putting it inside the corporate firewall is contrary to everything I.T. managers know and understand, Prentice said. With Sun Microsystems, IBM, and other firms establishing presence in virtual world Second Life, analysts have begun to issue notes of caution about such practices. Having a "second life" might be risky business that could eventually cause major headaches for enterprises participating in these virtual environments, according to Gartner .
