The fight between the high school student and a 15-year-old ex-pupil - following a verbal altercation - was arranged at the local railway station. When one of the combatants was knocked unconscious a melee erupted involving 15 students, watched by about 150 others. Inevitably, the brawl was captured on a video-equipped mobile phone and posted on YouTube. In another case a Year 9 girl was set upon by three other girls in the school toilets. She was punched and scratched and had her hair pulled. The bullying, watched by other students, only stopped when staff intervened but again the incident was recorded on a phone and "circulated".
