Measured by numbers of broadband lines rolled out, Europe has been ahead of the USA since October 2005. However, internet connection performance varies markedly across Europe, with some connections carrying more data, and faster, than others. Whereas in the Netherlands and Denmark broadband is quite common, very few households in Greece, Cyprus, Slovakia, and Romania have access to this technology.
