The network should be hooked up in July.... Internet 2, or the University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development, is a nonprofit consortium created in 1996 that develops advanced network applications. Its high-speed data transfer is faster than the ordinary Internet. It is led by 207 universities in the United States and partners with 70 corporations, 45 government agencies and 50 international organizations, according to the Internet 2 Web site.
