When Michael Garcia's family recently picked him up from a sleep-away camp, he wasn't quite ready to come home. Originally, the 12-year-old boy had reservations about going to the Rochester-area camp for children with muscular dystrophy....Michael was in kindergarten when doctors diagnosed him with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a progressive and ultimately terminal disorder where muscles waste and weaken with time.... Last semester, Whitesboro school officials provided him with video conferencing equipment so he could participate from home in his sixth-grade science class at the Parkway building.
