Interoute’s SIP Trunking service qualified to work with Microsoft Lync Server 2010

London, 16:00 GMT, 17 November 2010 – Interoute qualified its SIP Trunking service to work with Microsoft Lync Server 2010 as the first Europe based service provider, enabling secure business-class unified communications (UC) that can be deployed as a cost effective alternative to the PBX.  Organisations looking to extend UC beyond the internal environment can use Interoute’s SIP Trunking and business VoIP product, Interoute One, with Lync Server 2010 enables free VoIP calls between Lync enabled PCs regardless of location and significantly reduces telephone bills.

By connecting Lync Server 2010 to Interoute’s pan-European network via SIP trunking, enterprises can move straight to UC and VoIP with Interoute One, without embarking on difficult and expensive migration projects.  Ultimately, Lync Server 2010 eliminates the need for PBX, whilst easing the migration to a UC platform.  The upgraded functionality has also reduced the number of vendors required to support the communication needs of an organisation and ensures that all employees, including the increasingly mobile workforce can easily use the latest technology to be more productive without incurring an excessive amount of effort for adoption.

Gareth Williams, Interoute CEO, said, “With Lync Server 2010, Microsoft Corp. has introduced new functionality that has reduced the complexity of installing an efficient and more productive UC solution.  As a European based qualified SIP trunking, provider, Interoute is the clear choice for organisations looking to deploy Lync Server 2010.  We can work with any technology, while providing a migration path from the PBX, enabling businesses to realise extensive cost benefits when their PBXs reach the end of their lifecycles.  Ultimately, communication is at the heart of every organisation and Lync Server 2010 is truly delivering integrated communications for IT cost savings.”

Interoute is working with one of Europe’s leading banking groups, who is one of the early adopters of Lync Server 2010.  With multiple branch offices spread across Europe, it needed to control its travel costs and enable its employees to work more effectively and efficiently across the various branches.  By connecting Lync Server 2010 into Interoute’s pan-European network via SIP trunking, it extended the VoIP reach of Microsoft Lync users into pan-European UC that controls costs and enables employees to share expertise regardless of location.

“Interoute’s SIP Trunking service will enable Lync customers to enjoy the benefits of Lync with reduced communications cost and simple setup and management of telephony infrastructure,” said Yancey Smith, director of product management, Microsoft Lync. “Interoute One will be a valuable service for Lync users with distributed offices across Europe.”

Businesses can also avoid international roaming charges on all other calls, enabling international communication at a fraction of the price of traditional telephony. With Lync Server 2010, Interoute has introduced simplified pricing by scrapping extensive rate card charges in favour of eight flat rate bill options. For example, organisations can pay from €2.50 per month per employee for 120 minutes of calls per employee to over forty countries and Interoute’s enterprise customers who deploy Lync Server 2010 can benefit from free on net calls

Interoute pioneered its integration with the Microsoft UC suite, integrating VoIP with Microsoft’s Live and Office Communications Servers and offers Direct Dial In number in over 40 Countries. Interoute’s pan European network currently carries 600 million VoIP minutes each month for wholesale carriers and enterprises.

Working with Interoute, enterprises can benefit from the expertise of a qualified SIP Trunking provider and test the service using Interoute’s free  outbound calling trial for Lync Server 2010, available at http://www.interouteone.com.
