Title: Sony's 3.5- and 11-inch OLEDs Post by: Ryan Martis on March 21, 2009, 04:21:57 PM Super thin display panels are rapidly approaching the point at which they will cease to exist if you look at them sideways, as this minuscule 0.02mm (that’s 0.0079 inch) 320 x 220 OLED panel developed by Sony demonstrates.
(http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l336/glamgalz/techzug/imgs/future/sony_oleds_01.jpg) Sony's 3.5- and 11-inch OLEDs are just 0.008- and 0.012-inches thin If you don’t have a metric ruler handy, 0.2mm qualifies as “micro point” when it comes to ballpoint pen tips. If you can handle a 50% increase in thickness, Sony also has produced a 0.3mm, 11? (960 x 540) prototype, which is ten times thinner than their very, very thin production model OLED TV. Sony's 3.5- and 11-inch OLEDs are just 0.008- and 0.012-inches thin (http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l336/glamgalz/techzug/imgs/future/sony_oleds_02.jpg) |
