There are many Opportunities in News Jobs, it can be TV News Jobs and Newspaper Jobs. Also, the Editor Jobs are in huge demand. Freelance Editing Jobs are also available for those who are looking for Video Editing Jobs and Sound Editing Jobs. EDITORS plan the contents of publication and supervise its preparation.

SUB-EDITORS go through the contents and news items submitted by the reporters and finalize the material for publishing.

COLUMNISTS read the reader’s queries in specific column subjects viz. humor, snippets, diary, politics, religion, sports, personalities etc and also manage to respond to the reader's queries.

COMMENTATORS are the experts of their respective fields, who are often asked to express their expert views on various issues.

MAGAZINES JOURNALISM is a periodical publication, MAINLY IN TWO AREAS – Consumer area and Business area. Magazines are published regularly may be weekly, fortnightly, monthly, bio-monthly, half yearly or annually. Monthly and weekly magazines have to be very alert and quick in work. EDITORS work during post production mainly. The editor’s job is to position the shot, choosing the best angles and frames, after the film is shot.

ACTORS portray the character and communicate with the audience on behalf of the writer, guided by the director.

DANCERS: dancing is one of the important career in the film and television industry. They can specialize as CHOREOGRAPHERS, DANCE TEACHERS, DANCE CRITICS AND DANCE THERAPISTS.

MUSICIANS: Music is a performing art in which the musician communicate with an audience. Besides performing, they work as tutors, song writers and lyricists.

EDITORS plan the contents of Newspaper and supervise its preparation. Editors examine the news and other material. They review it before sending for publication. They may also assist in layout work. The editors must have a basic familiarity with technology, using computers, desktop or electronic publishing systems, scanners and other electronic communications equipment. Editors review, rewrite and edit the work of writers. Editors may also do original writings. What material will appeal to readers is also decided by editors.

Major newspapers employ several types of editors. The Managing Editor is responsible for daily operation of news department. Executive editors usually supervise Assistant Editors responsible for particular subjects may be sports news, political news, local news, international news etc. Generally it is the executive editor who has a final say on publication.

There are also Assignment Editors and copy editors. Assignment editors decide about who will cover the given story. Copy Editor edits and review the grammar, content, accuracy and style of the report. Some smaller news papers may have only one editor.

Generally a Degree in communication and / or Journalism is required.

Editors are paid very attractive salaries and pay packages. Because of good salary, the competition is also growing. More and more people are attracted towards this profession.

REPORTERS AND CORRESPONDENTS prepare news story about the events related to local, state, national and international. Reporters and correspondent prepare a covering story, investigate leads and news tips, probe documents and interview people at the site. Their work is usually hectic. High school courses in English, journalism, and social studies provide a good foundation for college programs. Courses in computer science, business, and speech are useful as well. Fluency in a foreign language is necessary in some jobs.

Reporters and correspondents need more than good word-processing skills. Computer graphics and desktop-publishing skills also are useful. Technological advancements have made computer-assisted reporting a need of the hour. Additional knowledge of photography is also valuable for entry-level positions, which sometimes combine the responsibilities of a reporter with those of a camera operator or photographer. Reporters should be impartial and non biased and they should not in any case incline to any particular group, party or organization so that they can dedicate themselves in providing accurate and impartial news. If the news is not accurate this may lead to lawsuits.

With the growing demand of reporters and correspondents more and more people are attracted to this career. Competition is growing also day by day. Talented writers who can handle highly specialized scientific or technical subjects have an advantage.

Even a FREELANCE REPORTER AND CORRESPONDENT is also a very good option. Because the jobs in this industry are sensitive to economic ups and downs because these industries depend on revenue from advertising.
Salaries are good and are directly proportional to qualification, experience and talent. Committed persons command an early raise always.

COLUMNISTS are Journalists who produce specific forms of writing for publication called "column". Columnists read the reader’s queries in specific column subjects viz. humor, snippets, diary, politics, religion, sports, personalities etc and also manage to respond to the reader's queries.

What differentiates a columnist from other forms of journalism is that it is a regular feature in a publication, it is personality-driven by the author and it explicitly contains an opinion or point of view.

Commentators are generally freelancers. They are not in the employment of newspaper organization.

Producers are the most important people of this industry. We can say that they are the pillars of this industry. They choose the script and interpret that  through actors to entertain the people. They are the important people of the society also. Any kind of message or instruction can be given to the society through them. They can work in theater, radio, television and films.

After selecting the script they develop the ideas for production. They plan the budget and arrange for the financer. They select the directors, actors and the team for the production of the film. They coordinate with members of the team so that every thing can be done according to the schedule and within budget. They negotiate with the actors, costume and set designers. They take care of the fitness of the actors and the team workers so that they can perform better . During rehersals they give them proper time to take rest.

Producers should also be very creative and talented. They should have patience and cordial relations with their team members. They should have the art to get the work done. They themselves should be physically fit and committed to their work. Mostly the producers get work on the basis of their experiences but they can also have professional training in this field by joining  some institute.The producer’s excellence is in completing the project within time and budget.

The job of television announcer is very attractive and challenging. With the number of new channels the job opportunities in this field have increased. But at the same time entry in this field is highly competitive. Now TV channels have specialized people for specialized fields like news, sports, weather, films, politics and finance.

At small TV stations announcer alone has to perform so many tasks. They give information regarding station programs. They give breaks. They introduce close programs. Announcers also interview guests and act as a moderator in discussion. Some host quiz programs and talk shows.

TV announcer should have pleasing personality. They should have knowledge in different fields like music, sports, politics, business and theater. They should have formal training in mass communication, broadcasting and journalism. By getting formal training they become more professional, confidant and gain the skill to work with the advance technologies. Students get valuable experience at campus TV facilities and at commercial stations while serving as interns. Internship provide them with the training and contacts in this industry.

The beginners who has completed internship start the carrier working in small stations. In metropolitan cities the competition Is very hard. Employer look for announcers who has completed internship and have several years experience. They look for pleasing personality who is successful in attracting the audience with his voice and style. The more knowledgeable, confidant and talented they are the more opportunities they have.

No doubt they have to work under tight schedule which can cause stress. The announcers are widely known an get personal contacts with the people. This thing has great attraction for them.

The radio announcers are called radio jockeys. The job of radio jockey is to announce program schedule, public service information. They interview guests, present news, sports and give information regarding weather. They also provide commentary on certain events like sports, parades and other occasions. Some announcers get specialization in certain fields like music, sports, news, politics, personal finance and health.

They prepare program’s contents, discuss issues with listeners and interview guests. So they perform so many tasks on and off the air. They play music, read  prepared script and give commercial breaks as per told by the management. They also comment on music, play song on the request of listeners. To make the program more interesting they also announce contests for listeners. They also provide information regarding the events to be organized or important days to be celebrated.

Announcers at small stations make announcements as well as operate the control board which is used for broadcasting. They also raise funds by selling commercial time to the advertisers. Announcers sometimes have to work in odd hours and longer periods. They present early morning and late night programs. Due to technological advancements some station operate overnite without any staff. They use program that was recorded earlier. They also record the announcements to be given by the announcer.

Broadcasting field attract many people. Therefore the competition in this field is tough. Formal training in broadcasting from college or technical institute is important. Bachelor’s degree in communication, broadcasting and journalism is also very helpful. They provide student with the skill to work with new technological advancements.

They ar given training in voice control, pronunciation and correct grammar. They are given practice in writing skills so that they can write their own script. The job seekers in this field are more then the jobs. Therefore the beginners have to start with small radio stations or with late night shifts at a larger station. The more the person is equipped with different languages, hobbies, technological advancements and business knowledge the more he is in demand.

Directors are the key persons in the production line. They put life in the writer’s script. To some extent the success of any programe , serial or a film depends on the director. The director does his best to give originality to the scene.

Some of the directors get formal training in this field while many others get this job on the basis of their experience and imagination. They generally start with theater, local T.V network and then after getting experience work for the film production companies. At each level they have to face a tough competition. They have to give their best to get more work. Every time they have to prove their worth.

It is the responsibility of a director to put creativity in the direction. The directors after going through the script thoroughly explain the concept to the cast, costume designers and set designers. They select the cast, designers, music and choreographer. They have with them assistant directors also who take care of light, sound, technicians and set changes.

Directors organizes rehersals and direct the work of cast and crew. They have to meet different people like writers, designers, financers and production technicians. They remain under stress until the project completes. Sometimes they have to work in odd hours and in adverse weather conditions. The directors should have patience and stamina and cordial relations with his team.

In old days it  was usually said that an acting is a God given gift which can be polished to any extent. But now we can say that one can acquire this art by joining some professional institute and can hold a degree in this field.

People of modern age get much more opportunities to show their talent. In this competitive world where people get lots of opportunities there they have to face a strong competition also. An actor has to go under many hardships to prove his worth. Uncertainty of work is always there. In the beginning one should have some other work to meet the expenses. Actors  should have enough patience to visit directors and give auditions. They should be ready to face the rejections. Most of the actors come to know about their talent when they get chance to perform on school or college stage. Their recognition at that level encourage them to choose this field as carrier.

Again this field is very vast. One can start with stage shows, radio, theater and television. Then his performance take him to the bigger screen.

To be physically fit is very important for the actor. He should have enough stamina to bear heat of the studio lights. An actor has to work in odd hours, sometimes early in the morning and sometimes late in nights depending on the situation of the scene. An actor should have creative mind.

He should be talented and intelligent to grasp the things. Sometimes an actor has to research the role to give the real image of the character. He should have the patience to give retakes. An actor should acquire different skills like horse riding, swimming , singing  and dancing etc. to excel in his field. The physique of an actor matters a lot in deciding his role. His voice should be audible. He should have passion to entertain others.

Those who want to adopt the profession of teaching music to higher classes need to have master’s degree.

Those who are interested in this carrier should have passion for the music. They should have knowledge of wide range of musical instruments and different styles of playing music. They should have creative mind and stage confidence. They need constant study and practice to achieve the level of excellence in performance.

It was usually said that singing is a God given gift. Only those people can sing who are born with the sweet voice and who has the natural talent for singing. But now we can say that a person who has interest in music can learn how to sing. One can join music academy or can learn from schools and colleges. Colleges and universities provide degree courses in music education. This enables the person to polish himself in this field.

Now a days children start taking music classes in an early stage. By the time they complete their school education they have a good knowledge of music and get many opportunities to perform. Singers may perform solo or as a part of a group. Singers are often classified according to their voice range or by the type of music they sing.

Singers entertain live audience in night clubs, restaurants, wedding,  concert halls and musical theater. Some singers perform only for recording or production studios. There is a lot of competition in this field also. A singer has to struggle hard to sustain his carrier as a singer. He needs to study and practice regularly to perform better. He has to add something new to his style to get the work.

Singers should be physically fit and should have patience and stamina to reherse  for prolonged hours. Singers who participate in stage shows have to travel frequently. A singer with a degree in music education can go in teaching profession. One can start his music academy also. The job of a music director is to direct instrumental or vocal performances by musical groups. They plan and conduct the programs. They lead them at rehearsals to bring harmony, rhythm and other musical effects.
