Learn the Skills of the Wealth Game
« Posted: October 31, 2007, 02:54:12 PM »

he first thing you do when you want to play a particular sport well is to learn both the rules of that sport and the skills required to master that particular game. For example people spend hours on the golf course week in and week out to try to improve their game.

It is interesting, however, the number of people who express a desire to become wealthy but who have not bothered to learn the first thing about the skills required in the wealth game.

When I first became interested in becoming wealthy I was fortunate enough to attend a seminar of a very astute businessman. In this seminar he made the comment that if you are serious about becoming rich then you should spend 10% of your annual income, each year, on life enhancing education that will increase your practical knowledge and make you a more valuable person in the market place.

I took the speaker's advice and I am very glad I did.

For around the next ten years I did exactly as he suggested and I invested 10% of my annual income on life enhancing education and it was the best investment I have ever made!

I attended courses, I read books, I listened to audio programs, I looked for every way that I could to learn and I jumped in boots and all.

I soon realized that although it is essential to learn the practical skills of the money game it is even more important to learn the mental and emotional skills. If you don't get a "rich head" first then you will never get a rich bank account. Again it is interesting that most broke people get these priorities the wrong way round.

When I started seriously playing the business game I soon discovered that the old saying "it's not what you know but who you know" has some merit, but I would like to rephrase it to make it more accurate.

"It's not only what you know but also who you know, who knows you and how much they like and respect you."

For this reason, high on the list of priorities in your wealth education is mastering the art of people skills.

If you are starting to get nervous about how much time and money this life enhancing education is going to take then I really have to ask you how serious you are about wanting to be rich and happy.

After all, in this country, people typically spend 12 to 16 years or more in the formal education system and what do they get for their time and money? If they're lucky they get a job.

Even if you get a really good job there is still a major problem. When you stop working the job, they stop paying you the salary!

The whole objective of a wealth education is to put yourself in the financial position where you can stop work, if and whenever you want to, and you still keep earning money. It sounds a lot better than a job to me!

How much time and money have you invested in your wealth education? How much better off financially do you think you can become if you learn the rules and skills of the money game, the business game, people skills and the personal psychology to really get your inner financial genius switched on and running at full power?

It is interesting that successful business people will spend thousands of dollars to do a new course and be totally happy if they pick up one new tip that they didn't know. Why? Because they understand just how much money they can make by adding that extra knowledge to their already well groomed success mind and then applying it in the market place.

On the other hand, the broke people who are drastically in need of wealth education, will complain about the concept of spending $50 and a few hours of their time. So they decide not to do it and they stay broke!

What about you? How much have you invested in your wealth education? I wonder how much richer you could be if you just got serious about learning and applying what you need to know?
