RGB Communications Takes Over as Pakedge UK Distributor
« Posted: September 25, 2012, 09:08:24 AM »

Hungerford, Berkshire, UK: 25 September 2012 – As from 1st September, 2012 RGB Communications has been appointed as the exclusive UK distributor of the Pakedge Device & Software range of high performance, easy to install, reliable, wired and wireless networking solutions.

The Pakedge product range consisting of wireless access points (WAPs), switches, routers, IP power distribution units and its Virtual Cell technology, which delivers seamless roaming, meets the demand for low cost entry point installations right up to the most sophisticated wireless requirements.

"Pakedge's Virtual Cell technology will enable our channel partners to take networking solutions to new levels of reliability by completely eliminating any drop in connection as their customers move around their workplace carrying their Wi-Fi devices," explained David Webster, RGB's CTO.

"We were looking to replace our existing UK distributor so discussions with RGB, who for some time had been searching for a robust but simple solution to add to its market leading distribution portfolio in order to build up its networking offering, were very timely," said Nickolas Phillips, VP of Sales and Marketing, Pakedge.

"It quickly became clear that RGB, with its long standing expertise as a technical AV distributor, would be a great fit for us. Particularly as the Pakedge range will meet the growing demand of RGB's accredited Savant dealers for a more reliable network with which to underpin their Savant commercial control solution installations," added Phillips.

All wireless networks, even those for small office environments, require at least one WAP and Pakedge offers on-wall or in-ceiling models for unobtrusive mounting.

For larger offices that require multiple WAPs to achieve adequate coverage, users can experience extremely frustrating interruptions in audio, video, data or phone calls as they move from the coverage area of one WAP to another. This is due to the dropped connection as one WAP 'hands off' to the other.

Additionally, any wireless touch panels and increasingly smartphones or laptops used to control workplace environment devices via the network, need to connect reliably to ensure commands are executed without delays or errors for the smoothest user experience.

Pakedge's wireless networking products with Virtual Cell technology eliminate service interruption as it links the operation of all the WAPs in a network so they all appear as a single WAP to any Wi-Fi device. This means there is never a need for the network connection to be handed off from one WAP to another.

Having talked to its channel partners, RGB had become increasingly aware that networking, especially wireless, can fall outside of the partner's comfort zone. To overcome this, some have been using costly third party networking specialists or low performance consumer products to deliver solutions for their customers.

"At our Technology Showcase (Wed 17 and Thurs 18 Oct, RGB's demonstration suites, Lowesden, Hungerford, Berkshire) we will be demonstrating how, with a little help from RGB as to which of the Pakedge pre-configured, packaged solutions best suit individual customers' networking requirements, our channel partners can quickly and easily carry out successful installations themselves," said Webster. "The Pakedge range will quickly become an important element of our channel partner's networking tool-kit."
