Cornerstone OnDemand (NASDAQ:CSOD), a global leader in cloud-based talent management software solutions, today announced that PSA Peugeot Citroën, the French vehicle manufacturer with international reach, has selected Cornerstone’s unified, cloud-based talent management software, including solutions for learning, as the foundation for its new paperless and virtual academies, helping to improve training reach, significantly reduce cost and maintain the brand’s reputation for innovation.

Headquartered in Paris, France, Peugeot Citroën is the second-largest vehicle manufacturer in Europe and the 9th largest in the world. It has a reputation for excellence and innovation, most recently demonstrated when the Peugeot 308 won European Car of the Year in 2014. For Peugeot S.A, this innovation is an intrinsic part of its organisational DNA.

Providing Meaningful Training for the 21st Century
With rising travel costs for in-person training, but a desire to increase qualification rates and training reach, Peugeot Citroën teamed up with specialist training and consultancy organisation Calex and Cornerstone OnDemand to provide 12,000 employees across 500 dealerships with centralised access to online training using Cornerstone Learning.

The virtual academy, featuring interactive quizzes and chat boxes to increase engagement, has allowed Peugeot Citroën to save £2.5m in travel and accommodation costs. Cornerstone OnDemand and Calex aimed to help Peugeot Citroën deliver 20 percent of its courses virtually, but the solution was so successful that 64 percent of training is now delivered in this fashion.

For training which requires face-to-face sessions, Cornerstone OnDemand and Calex implemented a paperless academy, replacing 900-page training manuals with pdf documents accessed on Acer tablet devices. These manuals are now emailed to delegates following training sessions, including sales, technical and legislative training. The paperless academy means that delegates can also embed rich content within their individual training manuals, such as videos of new engines, or voice note recordings following a particular customer enquiry. This initiative has allowed Peugeot Citroën to save £750,000 on printing costs over three years.

Comments on the News
“At Peugeot Citroën, we are continually focused on delivering innovative solutions to our vehicle customers, but this innovation continues across our offices and dealerships,” said Phillip Price, Development and Administration Manager, Peugeot Citroën. “Calex and Cornerstone OnDemand have enabled us to simultaneously improve training for the dealerships and greatly reduce costs, supporting career development and employee retention – most notably, increasing the qualification rate by 14 percent last year.”

“Peugeot Citroën is committed to creating innovative, sustainable vehicles and has taken the same approach to driving excellence within the discipline of talent management,” said Vincent Belliveau, senior vice president EMEA, Cornerstone OnDemand. “By taking a modern, smart approach to training and staff development, Peugeot Citroën has built a highly engaged workforce, helping employees learn from each other and establishing Peugeot Citroën as a world class vehicle manufacturer and employer.”
