Panasonic today announced at the Automechanika the latest version of its Toughbook CF-53 Semi-rugged notebook with enhanced performance. The 4th incarnation of Panasonic's best-selling business all-rounder, the Toughbook CF-53 is powered by the latest fourth-generation Intel® CoreTM i5 vProTM processor delivering outstanding performance and up to 15 hours battery life. It uses the latest Windows 8.1 Pro Update 64-bit operating system or Windows 7 Professional (available through downgrade rights from Windows 8.1 Pro) and features a 14" diagonal anti-glare/reflection display with Intel® HD 4400 graphics for incredible performance, responsiveness and media capabilities.
Popular as a diagnostic tool in the automotive sector but designed for all mobile professionals, including small and medium-sized business users, the latest Toughbook CF-53 was unveiled at Automechanika 2014, the world’s leading auto trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany. Incorporating classic legacy ports featured on previous Toughbook models and diagnostic-specific interfaces, the CF-53 is ideal for those working in the Automotive, telecommunications, construction, manufacturing, insurance and defence industries.
The device is available in three configurations: The Toughbook CF-53 Automotive Model with legacy ports including serial port and double PCMCIA slots and positioning to industry standards. The Toughbook CF-53 Touchscreen Model with outdoor viewable high brightness touchscreen and Circular Polarizer to minimize sunlight reflection and the Toughbook CF-53 Standard Model.

With the Toughbook CF-53 being away from your desk doesn’t mean being away from your business-critical data and applications. The Intel® CoreTM i5-4310U vProTM Processor(3MB cache, 2.0GHz up to 3.0 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology) and Intel® HD 4400 graphics with DirectX 11 support is capable of running the most demanding office applications in the field.

The CF-53 is designed to perform where your field team needs it with the latest device offering a 15 hour battery life (up from 11 hours) and a rapid charge capability delivering 80% battery power in just one hour and 100% battery in 2 hours.
Flexibility for in the field
To optimise productivity in the field, technicians and engineers need to have specific ports to enhance communication or data transfer. The device comes with 2 USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ports (up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0) as standard, and an HDMI digital graphical output for Full HD picture quality.
Legacy ports include Serial, VGA, PCMCIA type II and, for the Automotive Model, 2 configurable slot options. Using the Configuration slot, the customer can choose from the following options:

Latest connectivity for speed and accuracy
To stay wirelessly connected, the Toughbook CF-53 includes the latest Wireless LAN AC (up to 867 Mbps) and Bluetooth v4.0 for fast data transfer. Embedded WWAN and RFID module options are also available. For video conferencing, the device has an optional webcam with integrated microphone.
The latest Toughbook CF-53 can also be equipped with the latest industry leading GPS technology to allow mobile workers and field engineers to pin point their work areas and destinations faster and more accurately than ever before. The u-blox M8 module provides compatability with all major global satellite positioning systems inluding GPS and GLONASS with faster information access times and never before seen accuracy for commercial organisations.
