Matrix42 Launches a New Client Management Feature Pack
« Posted: March 03, 2015, 07:06:54 PM »

UEFI compatibility and expanded support for current Microsoft Windows operating systems

LONDON, ENGLAND, 13 November 2014: Matrix42 (www.matrix42.com), a top provider of software for workspace management, today announced the availability of a new Matrix42 Client Management 15.1 Feature Pack. It includes support for UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) hardware, expanded support for the latest Microsoft Windows operating systems, and enhancements for existing functionalities.

The new feature pack from Matrix42 takes into account the distribution of the UEFI standard and now offers the necessary support for the hardware for operating system installations. UEFI is a standard designed to replace BIOS in personal computers and is the central interface between firmware, individual hardware components, and the operating system. There are a variety of valuable reasons to use UEFI. For one, it supports the integration of system partitions larger than two terabytes. For another, it is possible to have more than four primary partitions, thus lifting the limit imposed by DOS previously. Further, it takes substantially less time to boot hardware than in older systems.

"UEFI technology is mainly preinstalled on mobile devices such as notebooks, tablets, and hybrid laptops, but even new desktop computers support UEFI," says Oliver Bendig, CTO at Matrix42. "Our customers greatly value the ability to manage their IT workplaces without having to think about the type of device when they implement our solutions. For this reason, the new feature pack offers comprehensive UEFI hardware support. It is now possible to use the Matrix42 Client Management solution to easily and quickly install an operating system on any notebook, PC, tablet, and hybrid laptop that only uses UEFI."

Apart from being UEFI-enabled, the free feature pack also supports the installation and an expanded, official support of Windows 8.1 SP1 and Server 2012 R2. This means that Matrix42 Client Management now also supports all current Microsoft Windows operating system versions. Furthermore, there have also been numerous improvements to existing functions and enhancements to software management, the OS installer, platform, Web Console, and patch management in order to make the solution more user-friendly.

"The service pack emphasizes our claim to complete workspace management. This allows our customers to manage their colleagues' workplace environments anytime and anywhere, regardless of the device," adds Bendig.
