Scottish PLC of Year is highest ranked non-US company

iomart Group plc (AIM:IOM), has today been named as one of the fastest growing cloud service providers in the world.

iomart is ranked at 20 – the best ranking of any non-US provider – in Talkin’ Cloud 100, the annual report published by leading IT industry analyst Nine Lives Media. iomart is also ranked in the report as the 16th fastest growing CSP based on revenue growth in dollars (2011 v 2010). The top ranked company in both listings is global giant Amazon Web Services.

Angus MacSween, CEO of iomart Group plc, said: “It’s great to see iomart ranked alongside some of the most globally recognised names in the IT industry. This report reflects the fact that we are offering the right solutions to businesses in a high growth and competitive marketplace. By specialising in private cloud and hybrid cloud, iomart offers the secure and reliable solution to businesses who are still nervous of leaping into the public cloud.”

Between them the Talkin’ Cloud 100 companies generated $2.3 billion in cloud services revenues for 2011 (up 45.6 per cent from 2010), which the report commented was ‘a remarkably strong figure.’

The second annual Talkin’ Cloud 100 report (formerly the Talkin’ Cloud 50) was reconfigured this year to focus purely on the cloud computing market.  Its analysis is based on a number of metrics including total revenues, growth, profitability and services.

Angus MacSween added: “The figures in this report further validate our strategic direction and confirm that cloud computing is now the de facto hosting choice.”

iomart Group plc is due to post its annual results at the end of May. In its pre-close statement the Group said that it expected to show an adjusted EBITDA of not less than GBP11 million (FY2011: GBP6.6 million) and adjusted profit before tax of approximately GBP6.7 million (FY2011: GBP3.6 million). Global industry analyst Tier I commented at the time that iomart was becoming ‘a force in the EMEA market.’

iomart Group plc, which is headquartered in Glasgow, was recently named Scottish PLC of the Year with the judges describing the Group’s growth as ‘exceptionally impressive’. Customers include UK Government office supplies provider office2office, fashion retailer Reiss and cheap flights search specialist Skyscanner.
