Cortus Announces Three New Software Partners at Embedded World
« Posted: February 25, 2015, 04:02:42 PM »

Nürnberg, Germany, 25th February 2015 - Cortus, a technology leader in low-power, silicon-efficient, 32-bit processor IP, is today announcing three new software partners, enabling the APS architecture to be used in a broader range of embedded and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The ports include a dual IP v4/v6 stack from Oryx Embedded, secure point-to-point connection software from Nabto and an IDE and real-time operating system from Blunk Microsystems. In addition, Cortus is showcasing several high-volume devices being deployed with its cores. (Hall 5, Booth 5-478)

“We are excited by the growing number of embedded software vendors supporting the Cortus APS architecture,” said Roddy Urquhart, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Cortus. “These ports, along with the recently announced port of Micrium uC/OSIII®, offer Cortus licensees excellent capabilities for connected intelligent devices and an enhanced choice of IDE, middleware and RTOS.”

CycloneTCP, from Oryx Embedded, is a dual IPv4/IPv6 stack dedicated to embedded applications and offers seamless interoperability with existing TCP/IP systems. By supporting IPv6, CycloneTCP eases deployment of next-generation Internet for Cortus-based integrated circuit designs.

Nabto’s device software offers Cortus licensees “Skype-like” secure point-to-point connectivity from devices to smartphones, PCs and big data systems. The Nabto device software with a tiny firmware footprint complements Cortus’ minimalist approach to processor cores. Nabto additionally provides a people-to-machine interface for clients.

TargetOS™, from Blunk Microsystems, is a fast, small, and pre-emptive real-time operating system (RTOS) ported to the APS architecture. CrossStep™, now interfaced to the Cortus toolchain, is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for developers using TargetOS.

Cortus licensees are currently ramping up volume production in a range of connected intelligent devices. Atmel’s WINC1500, APS3-based, IEEE 802.11b/g/n IoT Network Controller is being deployed in a range of Wi-Fi applications including the Atmel Arduino WiFi shield 101. Microsemi has integrated the Cortus APS1 in a family of smart sensor interface ICs. The first generation is already in production on Tier-1 automotive platforms. StarChip have announced their third generation of Cortus-based SIM IC controllers, having already sold over 500 million controllers, and have announced products for banking and ePassports.
