High capacity infrastructure enables delivery of expansive voice, video, Internet, and wireless services to a growing customer base

Ottawa, Ontario –July 20, 2009 // CityWest Cable and Telephone Corporation, the premiere telecommunications and entertainment service provider in Northern British Columbia, is expanding its fiber-optic network and has selected BTI Systems, a global supplier of Intelligent Service Edge solutions for the delivery of high-bandwidth, multi-protocol services as its primary supplier.

CityWest’s focus is to offer residential and business customers progressive and affordable television, Internet, and wireless and wireline voice services.  Its next-generation network architecture implementation strategy is focused on packet-based service delivery, enabling high capacity, flexible, and reliable delivery to a geographically dispersed and diverse customer base.

CityWest is leveraging the power of the BTI 7000 Series with its integrated approach of one platform for Carrier Ethernet and Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM).  The BTI solution offers rapid capacity augmentation by simply provisioning additional wavelengths, meaning no additional fiber or time required for incremental network buildouts.  Carrier Ethernet switching and aggregation— with the packetVX integrated Ethernet service modules—provides Ethernet service scalability, security, and management simplicity tightly integrated with WDM “virtual fiber” capacity.  Delivering Carrier Ethernet, Storage, and SONET-based services on the same platform is simplified with BTI’s intuitive, GUI-based proNX network management platform.

“The BTI 7000 Series provides CityWest with an integrated approach for packet-based service delivery that maximizes our network capacity,” commented Don Holkestad, Operations Manager, CityWest. “ The BTI solution delivers our residential and business services throughout our serving area on a single platform, simplifying our network, and ensuring we have the capacity to serve our connected customers with next generation services.”

“City West, as a provider of quality telecommunications and cable services for home and business use, required a network strategy that provides multi-service networking, high capacity, and exceptional service and network visibility,”  said Fahim Sheikh, Director of Sales, Canada, BTI Systems.  “The BTI 7000 Series addresses these requirements and will easily scale and evolve to address new customer demands on City West’s service portfolio.”
