Cambridge, UK, 30th October 2014 - CCS (Cambridge Communication Systems Limited), creator of the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system for mobile networks, today announces that it has been selected as a finalist for this year’s Fierce Innovation Awards: Telecom Edition, an operator-reviewed awards program from the publishers of FierceWireless, FierceTelecom and FierceCable. CCS has been shortlisted in the Wireless Networks (Cell Sites) category by an exclusive judging panel of major global operators.

Finalists’ applications were judged by a carrier-only panel of executives from AT&T, CableLabs, Cablevision System Corporation, Comcast, Cox Communications, Inc., Orange, Sprint, TeliaSonera International Carrier, and Verizon. Full profiles of the judges can be found at https://www.fierceinnovationawards.com/telecom/2014/judges.

All applications were evaluated based on the following criteria: technology innovation, financial impact, market validation, compatibility with existing networks, end-user customer experience, and overall level of innovation. The winners will be announced live on Wednesday November 12th at 2:00pm ET/ 11:00am PT by Jason Nelson, Publisher of FierceWireless, FierceTelecom, and FierceCable.

CCS’ awards crop so far this year includes nominations for the IET Innovation Awards, World Communication Awards, Leading Lights Awards, and wins in the Small Cell Forum Industry Awards and Cambridge News Top Innovations 2014 Awards.

CCS’ pioneering self-organising small cell backhaul system is garnering significant industry recognition as the first backhaul solution that makes outdoor small cells truly viable. The small outdoor devices provide a resilient network of high capacity and low latency, as well as being easily installed in less than fifteen minutes. CCS’ first commercial deployment with China Mobile – the world’s largest mobile operator – has recently been expanded with a new installation in its Fujian Mobile branch, announced earlier this month.

Commenting on CCS’ Fierce Innovation awards shortlisting, CEO and Co-Founder Steve Greaves said: “This is undoubtedly a landmark year for CCS, and that is being reflected by the considerable number of industry accolades our solution has achieved over the past twelve months. For this latest award honour, we are particularly pleased that the stand-out innovation and market impact of our solution has been recognised by such an impressive panel of major global operators.”
