1233  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / Service2Media welcomes operator App Store Alliance but says market will not wait on: February 16, 2010, 11:55:03 AM
Barcelona February 15: Netherlands-based mobile application and service development experts, Service2Media, welcomed today’s announcement from global operators that they would co-operate on a unified wholesale applications community but also warned that industry initiatives of this scale took time to deliver and that the App market required cross platform services now.
CEO and founder Geert Kolthof: “This is a positive move and creating a platform able to serve multiple handsets types is a good way to go. But the market requirement exists today and the opportunities in the Enterprise application space in particular will not wait.”
Service2Media specialises in working with financial institutions, commercial organisations, brands and the media industry to create applications that can be delivered to all major handset brands types today – including platforms such as Apple, Android and Nokia that remain apart from the operator plans announced today. The company also keeps applications up to date as new handsets are introduced or current models upgraded.
“Our Enterprise customers want to build relationships with their customers regardless of handset type and also want to deliver applications from within their own brand,” explained Kolthof.
“We allow them to host the application download link on their own web site and in most cases manage that process for them within their own branded environment. In the majority of cases, they don’t have to ask their customers to visit an externally branded portal to get service,” he added.
Kolthof also said that the move announced by the operators would ultimately help Service2Media’s business: “We are about ensuring applications reach as many handsets as possible and this initiative will help that cause and make some things easier to accomplish. But we will also add the brands that are not within operator community initiative and ensure that our enterprise customers can get deliver and manage services across multiple platforms and devices.”
Service2Media used the Mobile World Congress to announce its next generation mobile application service development platform, M2Active™. The platform already allows applications to be written once but serve all the major handset brands.
The result of more than five years experience in the creation and management of award-winning mobile services and applications, M2Active is the most powerful and advanced mobile development and runtime platform available today.
Service2Media already runs application services for businesses such as CNN, Heineken, Dutch Rail, Rabobank and Royal KPN. The next generation M2Active platform adds even more features and enables, from one single script, mobile applications and services to run natively across all mobile devices, minimising the time and effort spent on development and maintenance.
“Using our new platform, companies will be able to both reduce their time to market for new applications, and expand their reach. Everybody wins,” said Kolthof, “developers, handset companies, operators and most importantly of all – customers.”

1235  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / Schneider Electric Showcases Integrated Approach to the Construction of Safe, En on: February 15, 2010, 07:54:40 PM
Ashby, United Kingdom - February 15th 2010: At BSEC 2010 experts from global energy management specialist Schneider Electric will run a series of unique on-stand “A Day in the Life of a School” demonstrations. These will show visitors how its integrated school security, energy management and building control solutions enhance the financial, operational and environmental performance of schools — and help boost pupils’ performance levels by up to 30 percent.

The special “A Day in the Life of a School” mini ‘lessons’ will give conference delegates and exhibition attendees a snapshot of the new and exciting possibilities available to schools using the latest energy management and building automation systems. The lessons will also demonstrate how easy it is to monitor and cost-effectively control vital aspects of a school — from enhanced energy management and carbon reduction measures, through to security, safety and access control.

Visitors to Schneider Electric’s stand (508) will also discover how school authorities can take significant steps to meeting their carbon reduction commitments by following Schneider Electric’s four steps to energy efficiency.

From the start of the school day through to when the lights are switched off and throughout the night, Schneider Electric’s building automation solutions are focused on delivering the optimal learning and operational environment within schools. Sophisticated but intuitive energy management systems continuously and cost-effectively control heating, lighting and ventilation according to the changing needs of staff and children, while security and access control solutions integrate pupil access and registration with automated absence alerts and cashless school meal payment options that take account of individual pupil’s special dietary needs.

Schneider Electric’s leadership in intelligent and highly energy-efficient, integrated building management and security solutions for the education sector is built on a unique, research-based understanding of the needs, concerns and behaviours of school users – especially children and their teachers.

As well as drawing upon the findings of two ‘Safety and Security in Schools’ research reports1 & 2 commissioned by Schneider Electric’s buildings business (formerly known as TAC UK), the company’s solutions also take account of numerous studies that show the combination of fresh air, natural light, the right temperature and integrated security systems makes pupils comfortable, feel safe and perform. One study by the International Centre for Indoor Environment and Energy, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), showed that pupils’ performance went up by an average of 15 percent, and up to 30 percent, with improved climate control.

“Education authority representatives, school managers and building contractors who visit our stand at BSEC 2010 will see what a huge, positive impact an integrated security, energy management and building automation solution can have on financial, operational, environmental and pupil performance,” commented Stuart Bailey, Head of Education - Buildings Division, Schneider Electric.

Scheider Electric will be at Stand 508 at Building Schools Exhibition & Conference, February 24-25th at the ExCel Centre in London

1236  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / ip.access to provide picocells for Bouygues Telecom on: February 15, 2010, 05:18:43 PM
15 February 2010 – ip.access, developer of 2G and 3G in-building wireless solutions, today announced that it was chosen by leading French fixed and mobile operator Bouygues Telecom to provide 2G picocells for its enterprise customers across France. Bouygues Telecom has more than 10 million subscribers nationwide, making it France’s third largest mobile operator, and was recently rated number one for customer relations in mobile telephony.

Bouygues Telecom chose the ip.access nanoGSM system to provide valuable extra 2G and EDGE cellular coverage to enterprise customers exactly where it is needed - such as indoors and in areas of high network traffic.

With an ip.access nanoGSM picocell installed on their premises and plugged into an existing fixed IP connection, Bouygues Telecom business customers will be able to use their mobile devices for high-quality voice and mobile data services indoors without any lapse in service performance – such as dropped calls or the data flow being interrupted.

Bouygues Telecom chose nanoGSM following a rigorous and competitive selection process. Unlike other rival picocell solutions on the market, nanoGSM provides high-speed EDGE connectivity. Also instrumental in Bouygues Telecom’s decision was nanoGSM’s impressive track record, together with endorsements from other operator customers. With more than 50 live network installations around the world, nanoGSM is the world’s most-deployed picocell.

“The ip.access nanoGSM system met all our requirements when we assessed the various solutions on the market. nanoGSM’s reliability, together with its rapid and seamless integration with our existing core network assets was confirmed during the trial period and the first site deployments”, said Sebastian Racu, in charge of the picocell program at Bouygues Telecom.

Commenting on the news, ip.access CEO Stephen Mallinson said, “We’re delighted to work with Bouygues Telecom to deliver a market-leading cellular service to their customers. Mobile network operators view picocells – both 2G and 3G – as an effective, scalable and cost-efficient means to improve the performance and quality of their mobile networks. Our relationships with major operators worldwide such as Bouygues Telecom establish ip.access as the undisputed leader and innovator in the cellular-over-IP market.”

ip.access will be showcasing its market-leading picocell and femtocell solutions on Stand 2D62 in Hall 2 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Feb 15-18 2010).

1237  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / fonYou Telecom lets operators get on the Cloud on: February 11, 2010, 05:08:11 PM
Barcelona, Spain; February 11th, 2010 – After its success in Spain, mobile operator fonYou Telecom is to offer its innovative Online Mobile Telephony platform to other mobile network operators. fonYou’s solution allows operators to offer their customers total control of their mobile telephony services and gives them direct access to their call records, text messages and voicemails through any web browser.

Fernando Núñez Mendoza, CEO of fonYou said: “There is a new generation of customers who like to be self-sufficient – people who book online, do banking online and live online. It is for these people that we designed our Online Mobile Telephony service.”

Shortlisted at Barcelona in the Mobile Premier Awards in Innovation, and recognised by Silicon Valley’s Under the Radar as one of the hottest telecoms start-ups of 2009, fonYou successfully launched its own Online Mobile Telephony service in Spain last year.

The company is now offering mobile operators access to its technology platform and to its business expertise in service creation, delivery and management. Implementing the Online Mobile Telephony solution allows operators to introduce a new generation of online telephony features and to let customers manage their mobile phone account as if it were email. It gives operators a platform that can deliver high-value, cloud-based services that are fully integrated with their existing network infrastructure.

In the next quarter fonYou will be implementing its Online Mobile Telephony solution for its first group of mobile operator customers.

“With Online Mobile Telephony services operators can compete with the new generation of aggressive cloud-based models such as Google Voice, Ribbit or Skype, and get closer to their customers”, said Núñez Mendoza. “In this new competitive environment, fonYou will empower operators to quickly launch new ‘sticky’ services, greatly improve the users’ experience, and secure their position in the new and growing online market segments.”

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (February 15-18), fonYou Telecom will be demonstrating its service in the Courtyard on booth CY11 in the Spanish Pavilion.

Note to editors
If you would like to try the fonYou service, please come to our booth at the Mobile World Congress to register for our trial. Where possible, we will set this up immediately and provide you with a Spanish mobile phone number you could use while in Barcelona.

About fonYou Telecom
fonYou’s mission is to reinvent mobile telephony for the internet era.
fonYou launched as an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) in Spain on July 9th, 2009 (see www.fonyou.com) after signing an MVNO agreement with Telefónica the year before.
Based on the success of its ongoing MVNO operations in Spain, fonYou now licences its services as a product (the "Online Mobile Telephony Platform") to other mobile operators around the globe (see www.fonyoutelecom.com). The Online Mobile Telephony solution has been designed to be deployed as an enabling platform within operators' networks to allow them to offer Online Mobile Telephony services (i.e. cloud services) under their own brand to both new and existing customers.
fonYou is a real telecom operator with its own core network and service platforms. This technical architecture has been designed, developed and implemented by fonYou’s Innovation Factory, the company’s internal R&D team.

Hanney comes to Amplify from Exposure where he was responsible for a number of big brand clients, including Rizla, Red Bull and Levi Jeans. He has been tasked with growing existing Amplify accounts as well as generating new business opportunities.

“Amplify has an awesome creative reputation and I have heard nothing but great things about the people and the team atmosphere that the agency has,” adds Hanney. “I was looking to join a close team that prides itself on great creative work and combines that with ambition – Amplify fits that bill perfectly.”

“Amplify is a young and energetic hot shop for creative talent,” comments Bazalgette. “It’s exciting to be a part of an agency that delivers what it sets out to do and embraces an integrated approach with a stellar list of clients. Amplify has created a vibrant environment where its people contribute significantly to the shared knowledge of everything cultural, be it music, film, art or fashion.”

About Amplify

To do this, Amplify properly understand brands and people, what makes them tick, and the cultural context and impact of their activities. Great promotional ideas anchor everything together and are combined with the ability to measure what effect campaigns have. For Amplify, experiential marketing functions as a platform that generates content which can be amplified across all media; it becomes an approach, not an execution.

1241  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / TradeDoubler Closes Japan Office as Final Stage of IMW Group Integration on: February 08, 2010, 07:00:44 PM
London, 8 February 2010 – TradeDoubler, the number one pan-European digital marketing company, today announced it will be closing its operation in Japan as part of the final stage of its long term integration of the IMW Group. The Japanese operation was a legacy asset of the acquisition back in July 2007, and is solely focused on selling keyword bid management technology – a non-strategic product for TradeDoubler. The closing of Japanese operation has a non-significant impact on TradeDoubler’s total revenues.

The Japan office will close on 30 June 2010. Until this date, TradeDoubler will honour all remaining fixed term contracts with its local clients, but will not be renewing existing contracts or accepting new ones.

“Our corporate strategy is focused on growing our successful online channels and expanding our market penetration on a pan-European basis,” said Björn Lindberg, COO for TradeDoubler. “We focus our offering in the areas of Affiliate Marketing, Ad Networks, SEM and SEO. The Japanese keyword bid management business was a tactical, non-strategic part of the IMW Group acquisition. The Japanese affiliate and ad networks markets are highly saturated. In addition, the extensive IT and infrastructure investments associated with a launch of our products are non-justifiable. Therefore, we are investing our sales and marketing activities in European countries which represent the greatest potential for new market growth and profitability. During 2010 TradeDoubler is preparing to enter at new markets within Europe.”

In 2009, TradeDoubler rebranded The Search Works in the UK and France to TD Search, bringing it in line with the rest of TradeDoubler’s TD Search businesses across Europe, as part of the integration of the IMW Group. With its extensive reach in 18 countries across Europe, TradeDoubler delivers 32 billion impressions per month, reaching 154 million unique users and generating 10 million leads every month. The Group offers unrivalled access to more than 76% of the European online audience through its publisher networks, which comprise more than 128,000 active website publishers and in excess of 1,700 advertisers.

1242  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / Gintel selected by Telenor Denmark for key role in advanced business communicati on: February 08, 2010, 05:48:04 PM
Trondheim, Norway, February 8 2010:
Gintel AS, a leading vendor of hosted enterprise software solutions, today announced that it has been selected by Telenor Denmark to deliver core technology and components for Telenor Denmark’s new Mobile Multiplan service.

Gintel is delivering two critical elements for the Mobile Multiplan service to Telenor Denmark. First, the MultiPlan Gateway (MPGW) allows both internal and partner applications to access resources within the Telenor Denmark network via a standard API enabler interface. The interface provides information on mobile terminal state and location, as well as providing call handling capabilities. The API is harmonised with similar initiatives across the Telenor group.

“We are delighted to have been chosen by Telenor Denmark” said Ernst Thue, CEO of Gintel. “It leverages and extends our successful work in other parts of the Telenor Group and demonstrates the excellence of our technology and innovations”.

Secondly, Telenor Denmark has also selected Gintel’s Mobile Switchboard Application (MOB), a web-based GUI which allows switchboard attendants to monitor employee present and control inbound call traffic, ensuring that it is routed to the correct destination.

“As in other countries around the world, business subscribers form a valuable and important subscriber segment in Denmark. Telenor Denmark is a major provider of advanced telephony services to the enterprise market and we are actively renewing and enhancing our service offer. As part of this activity, Telenor Denmark is delivering new functionality for our subscribers, allowing them to access resources in our network and create new, blended applications via an intuitive API interface” said Peter Kaliszan of Telenor Denmark.

“We believe in the Telco 2.0 approach of exposing service enablers to third parties, in order to maximise innovation for our subscribers. The new service will leverage our core voice offer, but allow enterprises to create valuable new services and mashups with other applications”, he added.

”We selected Gintel as a vendor because of its outstanding technology and its track-record of project execution with the Telenor Group” said Peter Kaliszan. ”The new solution will create clear differentiation for our offer, as enterprises can create their own solutions which specifically meet their individual needs.

The Mobile Multiplan product improves business efficiency and reduce costs by extending the functionality of premises-based PBX and Unified Communications platforms to mobile devices. With open API access, it is expected that enterprises will customise solutions to enrich their communications and interaction between businsess processes.

Gintel will be exhibiting at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, from February 15th – 18th 2010, Hall 2, stand A67.

1243  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / Hard-hitting year ahead for print media and radio on: February 04, 2010, 07:32:22 PM
February 4th 2010 - Increasing investment in social media, mobile marketing, email marketing and search will fuel a 17 per cent surge in digital marketing spending this year, as marketers migrate budgets from television, print and radio. ExactTarget, the on-demand email and one-to-one marketing specialist worked in conjunction with Econsultancy, the digital publishing and training group, to conduct a survey of over 1000 company and agency marketers around the globe.

The outlook for offline channels is much less favourable than its digital competitors, where 28 per cent of marketers will shift their overall marketing budgets towards digital in 2010.In contrast, the research depicts a healthier outlook for the burgeoning digital marketing industry, with 66 per cent of companies increasing their online marketing spend, and a further 30 per cent stating that they will maintain the same levels of spend in this area. On average, digital marketing currently accounts for 24% of overall marketing spend.

Peter McCormick, the general manager and co-founder of ExactTarget comments: “The shift from offline to online is in full swing as marketers look to measure direct increases in top-line sales, site traffic and improve overall marketing return on investment. Interestingly, brand reputation is becoming a more significant driver of the migration to digital marketing, particularly when it comes to social media.”

70 per cent of in-house marketers plan to increase their budgets for off-site social media marketing efforts, using agencies to engage with audiences on Facebook, Twitter and other networking sites. But according to agency respondents the biggest impediment to digital marketing investment is a general lack of understanding of digital marketing channels. Just under half (48%) of agency respondents cite this as the key reason, which prevents their clients from investing more money in this area.

“The research shows a healthy outlook for the digital marketing industry with the majority of responding companies increasing their budgets for most digital channels,” said Linus Gregoriadis, research director at Econsultancy. “Social media marketing is the area where companies are most likely to be spending more money during 2010, but areas such as search engine marketing and email marketing will remain buoyant.”

The research also looked at the effectiveness, measurement and allocation of budgets, and probed the differences between "traditional" and digital marketing investment. Online and offline channels have been compared individually, in terms of where companies are investing and their ability to measure return on investment (ROI).

Marketers can download a summary of the More Money, More Channels: Marketing Budgets For 2010 free of charge here. The entire report is available for purchase from Econsultancy online.

“We have embraced the application revolution from day one and understand that there is a lot more to taking a brand mobile than simply creating a good-looking iPhone or Android app - although that’s a good start! 1245  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno News / ip.access announces 3G Femtocell Developer Kit on: February 04, 2010, 05:24:28 PM
Cambridge, 4 February 2010 – ip.access, the leading developer of femtocell and picocell solutions, today announced the availability of a 3G Femtocell Developer Kit. The kit enables system integrators to build specialist applications using ip.access’ multi-award winning Oyster 3G femtocell technology.

Femtocells are increasingly being used by mobile network operators as a way to improve service quality for mobile phone users in homes and offices, and to offload traffic from their outdoor networks. However, femtocells have many other applications, including test and measurement equipment used for mobile handsets; and portable small scale networks for use by emergency aid agencies and government groups. The 3G Femtocell Developer Kit provides open access to ip.access’ mature Oyster 3G femtocell technology, enabling system integrators to incorporate femtocells into these specialist applications.

ip.access customers are already using the 3G Femtocell Developer Kit. For example, the setcom group has incorporated Oyster 3G technology into its S-CAT™ test system, designed to accelerate the wireless device development lifecycle. S-CAT emulates the complete wireless network to support testing of quality of connectivity, data performance and rich mobile Multi-Media, such as video or picture messaging. “ip.access provided a proven and robust femtocell solution which is ideal for setcom’s application,” said Ashley Johnston, President of setcom wireless, Germany.

Another ip.access customer using the 3G Femtocell Developer Kit is Quortus, a UK based technology company specialising in small footprint IP-based 3G core network systems. Quortus has incorporated Oyster 3G into its SoftCore™ product, a standalone network solution for small scale and portable UMTS deployments used by government and military groups and emergency aid agencies, as well as for operator femtocell trials and localised 3G coverage in rural villages. According to Andy Odgers, Managing Director of Quortus, “We chose to integrate ip.access’ Oyster 3G technology because of its advanced features and proven credentials”.

The 3G Developer Kit includes two UMTS femtocells (or femtocell modules), software interface specifications, management tools, training, documentation and support. Developers benefit from Oyster 3G’s proven ruggedness and power efficiency, as well as advanced features such as the ability to run Network Listen™ scans of the surrounding radio environment.

ip.access CEO Stephen Mallinson commented, “We see the 3G Femtocell Developer Kit as a means of enabling innovation; expanding the scope of what can be done with femtocell technology. It’s exciting to see partners such as setcom and Quortus providing imaginative products and services based on our core technology.”

ip.access will be showcasing its market-leading femtocell and picocell solutions on Stand 2D62 in Hall 2 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this month (Feb 15-18 2010).
