UTEL to Showcase Innovative Technologies for Fibre and Copper Systems at CommunicAsia2016

UK research and development company returns with its latest technology after last year’s successful CommunicAsia debut

Suffolk, United Kingdom, 25 May 2016: UTEL, a leading independent research and development company for telecommunications systems, will be showcasing its latest technology at CommunicAsia2016. On display will be Robo-Cab – an innovative, fully managed automatic direction finder (ADF) system for the management of copper networks – and revolutionary fibre testing technology, Fast Light.

As a complete copper network management system, Robo-Cab fully automates the whole cabinet, including copper cross connect, VDSL splitter jumpering, copper line testing, VDSL DSLAM port testing and cross connect testing.

“Robo-Cab takes speed and efficiency to the next level and has revolutionised the operation and management of FTTC,” said Frank Kaufhold, Managing Director of UTEL. “By automating the interconnect technology, Robo-Cab gives control back to operators by enabling them to deliver new services to customers on an almost on-demand basis.”

Robo-Cab allows for connection changes to be made and tested from remote locations, therefore significantly reducing OPEX.

“By using Robo-Cab, costs, number of call-outs and the risk of human error are all drastically reduced,” Kaufhold added.

Also on display is UTEL’s unique Fast Light technology, which is used as the basis for a centralised G-PON fibre management system and is the only existing technology in the world able to reliably detect ONT reflections through 128 split PONs without expensive wavelength dependent reflectors.

“At UTEL, we have been researching and designing centralised copper test systems for many years and have developed a good understanding of the issues operators face,” said Kaufhold. “Operators needed a game-changing solution and that is why we created Fast Light. Fast Light provides an easy-to-use system that can test fibre cable systems and report any issues affecting service.”

In addition to Fast Light and Robo-Cab, delegates attending CommunicAsia will also be able to view the latest Copper Test Access Solutions, which have already been implemented by a number of customers, including BT. Copper test heads, ETSI racks, Local Loop Unbundling (LLU) TASMs, Test Access Switches and Custom TASMs, will be among these technologies on show at UTEL’s stand.

UTEL representatives will be on site to discuss the company’s latest breakthroughs and provide unique insight into upcoming FTTH trends and how operators can prepare for the future.

For more information, visit www.utel.co.uk or speak to a UTEL representative at Stand BQ3-06 Great Britain Pavilion, Basement 2, CommunicAsia, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
